TA 4 - Digital system interfaces and protocols

IEC 61937-1:2021 is available as IEC 61937-1:2021 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 61937-1:2021 applies to the digital audio interface using the IEC 60958 series for the conveying of non-linear PCM encoded audio bitstreams.
It describes the way in which this digital interface can be used in consumer applications. The professional mode is not considered within the scope of this document.
IEC 61937-1:2021 cancels and replaces the second edition published in 2007, and amendment 1 published in 2011. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
a) Activation of Pe field;
b) Enhanced usage of channel status bits.
c) Addition of Annex B.

IEC 61937-13:2018(E) specifies the method to convey non-linear PCM bitstreams encoded according to the MPEG‑H 3D Audio format.

IEC 62379-3:2015 details aspects of the common control interface specified in IEC 62379-1 that are specific to video.

IEC 62379-5-1:2014 specifies aspects of the common control interface that are common to all network technologies, including setting up and tearing down of sessions and the service provided by the network.

IEC 62379-5-2:2014 specifies protocols which can be used between networking equipment to enable the setting up of calls which are routed across different networking technologies. It also specifies encapsulation of digital media within those calls.

IEC 61883-1:2008 specifies a digital interface for consumer electronic audio/video equipment using IEEE 1394. It describes the general packet format, data flow management and connection management for audio-visual data, and also the general transmission rules for control commands. It defines a transmission protocol for audio-visual data and control commands which provides for the interconnection of digital audio and video equipment, using IEEE 1394. This third edition of IEC 61883-1 cancels and replaces the second edition, published in 2003 and it constitutes a technical revision. The significant technical changes with respect to the second edition are:
- allocation of a new FMT code for the 1394 Trade Association specification '601 over 1394';
- Clarification of the meaning of FMT code;
- harmonization of IEC 61883-1 with IEEE 1394.1 for speeds over S400. This bilingual version (2012-08) corresponds to the monolingual English version, published in 2008-02.

specifies the method for the digital audio interface specified in IEC 60958 to convey non-linear PCM bitstreams encoded in accordance with the WMA Professional format.

IEC 61883-5:2004 specifies the packet format and the transmission timing for SDL-DVCR data. It describes the specifications for the IEEE 1394 packet, the CIP header for SDL525-60 and SDL625-50 systems, and the transmission timing.

IEC 61603-8-1:2003 specifies the characteristics and measuring methods for digital audio signal transmission systems using infrared radiation with sub-carrier of the frequency ranges 3 MHz to 6 MHz. It describes systems with different economic uses of the available bandwidth in order to obtain minimum interference and maximum compatibility. It replaces 6.8.3 of IEC 61603-2. This bilingual version, published in 2011-04, corresponds to the English version.

describes the characteristics of a digital multiple channel, multiple carrier audio transmission system as an extension to conference interpretation or similar systems using the frequency ranges 45 kHz to 1 MHz and 2 MHz to 6 MHz.

IEC 61937-4:2003 specifies the method for the digital audio interface specified in IEC 60958 to convey non-linear PCM bitstreams encoded in accordance with the MPEG audio.

Deals with the definition and the characteristics of control systems. It is not limited to the actual controller tasks but also includes other tasks which may be assigned to a control system, such as sequence control tasks, safety and provision for the actuating energy. The following systems are included, speed, power, opening, water level and flow control for all turbine types; electronic, electrical and fluid power devices; safety devices as well as start-up and shutdown devices.
