This document deals with the significant hazards, hazardous situations and events as listed in Clause 4 which are relevant to firewood and dual-purpose circular sawing machines for firewood/circular saw benches, with manual loading and/or unloading, hereinafter referred to as machines, designed to cut solid wood.
On Combined circular sawing machines for firewood - Log splitting machines only the circular sawing machine for firewood is covered by this European Standard. For the requirements for the log splitting part of this machine see EN 609-1: 1999 and EN 609-2: 1999.

For Computer Numerically Controlled (CNC) machines this European Standard does not cover hazards related to Electro-Magnetic Compatibility (EMC).
This European Standard does not apply to:
- log sawing machines where the saw unit moves to cut the workpiece;
- machines where the sawblade is capable of tilting;
- hand-held motor-operated electric tools or any adaptation permitting their use in a different mode, i.e. bench mounting;
NOTE 1 Hand-held motor-operated electric tools and saw benches to form an integrated whole with a hand-held motor-operated electric tools are covered by EN 60745-1:2006 together with EN 60745-2-5:2007.

Dieses Dokument detailliert alle in Abschnitt 4 aufgeführten signifikanten Gefährdungen, Gefährdungs-situationen und Gefährdungsereignisse, die auf Brennholzkreissägemaschinen und kombinierte Brennholz- und Tischkreissägemaschinen mit Handbeschickung und / oder Handentnahme zutreffen - im Folgenden als "Maschinen" bezeichnet - die zum Schneiden von Massivholz konstruiert sind.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt bei einer kombinierten Brennholzkreissägemaschine und Holz¬spalt-maschine nur den Brennholzkreissägenteil. Hinsichtlich der Anforderungen für den holzspaltenden Teil dieser Maschine siehe EN 609-1:1999 und EN 609-2:1999.
Diese Europäische Norm behandelt bei CNC-Maschinen nicht die Gefährdungen im Zusammenhang mit der elektromagnetischen Verträglichkeit (EMV).
Diese Europäische Norm gilt nicht für:
- Rundholzsägemaschinen, bei denen zum Schneiden des Werkstücks das Sägeaggregat bewegt wird (Brennholzkappsägemaschinen);
- Maschinen mit schrägstellbarem Sägeblatt;
- handgeführte motorbetriebene Elektrowerkzeuge oder irgendwelche Einrichtungen, die ihre Verwen-dung in einer anderen Weise, z. B. in einer Stationäreinrichtung, ermöglichen;
ANMERKUNG 1 Handgeführte motorbetriebene Elektrowerk¬zeuge und Sägetische, die eine Gesamtheit mit einem handge¬führten motorbetriebenen Elektrowerkzeug bilden, sind in EN 60745-1:2006 zusammen mit EN 60745-2-5:2007 erfasst.
- Maschinen mit Antrieb durch eingebauten Verbrennungsmotor.
Diese Europäische Norm ist in erster Linie auf Maschinen anzuwenden, die nach dem Datum der Herausgabe dieser Europäischen Norm hergestellt werden.
ANMERKUNG 2 Die von dieser Europäischen Norm erfassten Maschinen sind in der Maschinenrichtlinie 98/37/EG, A.1.1 und A.1.2 aufgeführt.

Pour les machines à commande numérique, la présente Norme européenne ne traite pas des phénomènes dangereux liés à la compatibilité électromagnétique (CEM).
La présente Norme européenne ne s'applique pas aux :
- scies à grumes dont l'unité de sciage se déplace pour scier la pièce de bois ;
- machines avec une lame de scie inclinable ;
- !outils électroportatifs à moteur ou toute adaptation permettant leur utilisation de manière différente, c’est-à-dire fixés sur un établi ;"
