This document specifies requirements for roofing and cladding products used for assembly into coverings for wall claddings, linings and pitched roofs, made from aluminium sheet with or without additional surface treatment (organic coating or anodising).
This document establishes the general characteristics, the definitions and the labelling of the products, together with requirements for the materials from which the products can be manufactured. It is intended to be used either by manufacturers to ensure that their products comply with the requirements or by purchasers to verify that the products comply before they are despatched from the factory. This document specifies the requirements for products which enable them to meet all normal service conditions. Products can be prefabricated or semi-formed products as well as strip, coil and sheet for on-site-formed applications (e.g. standing seam roofs).
This document is applicable to all discontinuously laid and fully supported roofing and cladding products made of aluminium sheets.
This document does not specify requirements for supporting construction, design of roof system and execution of connections and flashings.
This document does not apply to self-supporting aluminium sheets that are covered by EN 508 2.

What are the key requirements of EN 507:2026?
EN 507:2026 focuses on material suitability, product performance, traceability and delivery information. In practice, the standard tells suppliers what to use, how to check it, and how to identify it on delivery.
Materials and quality control
Clause 4.1 requires the product to be made from materials that comply with Clause 4.2. It also expects the material supplier to provide inspection documents on request and requires the manufacturer to operate a permanent quality control system. For users, this means conformity is not only about the finished product - the material origin and production control also matter.
Aluminium, coatings and anodising
Clause 4.2.1 limits suitable aluminium alloys to those listed in the standard, with alloy and temper chosen for corrosion resistance, strength and formability and agreed at ordering. Clause 4.2.2 lists acceptable factory-applied organic coatings and points to EN 1396 for coating performance and testing. Clause 4.2.3 allows anodised surfaces and refers to EN ISO 7599 for anodic oxidation coatings. In practice, the buyer needs to specify the alloy, temper and surface treatment that fit the exposure conditions and fabrication method.
Product properties, dimensions and fire note
Clause 4.3.1 links mechanical properties to EN 1396 for organically coated products and to EN 485-2 for uncoated or anodised products, while dimensional tolerances follow EN 485-4. Clause 4.3.2 says formed prefabricated products need agreed tolerances and may need calculation or testing under service loads such as wind, snow and maintenance loads. Clause 4.3.3 notes that aluminium is non-combustible and that the fire effect must be assessed on the complete structure.
Sampling, testing and delivery
Clause 5 requires sampling and test methods to follow EN 1396 or EN 485-1, depending on surface treatment. For formed products, the order must state the test type and inspection document type from EN 10204, and dimensional testing is based on at least one complete delivered piece per test unit. Clause 6 defines the designation format, and Clause 7 sets the marking, labelling and packaging information that must accompany every pack, coil or bundle.
What terms does EN 507:2026 define?
- Fully supported - Installation where the bottom flat portions of the product are supported by a continuous construction.
- Temper - The material condition created by a production stage such as mechanical or heat treatment to give defined properties.
- Organic coated aluminium sheet - Aluminium sheet painted, post-coated, laminated or coil coated on one or both sides.
- Anodised aluminium sheet - Aluminium with an anodic oxide coating produced by electrolytic oxidation.
- EN AW - The alloy designation symbols used for the aluminium sheets listed in the standard.
- PVDF - Polyvinylidene fluoride paint coating, one of the named factory-applied coating types.
- SP - Polyester paint coating, listed among the coating designations.
Who uses EN 507:2026?
EN 507:2026 is used by manufacturers of aluminium roofing and cladding products, especially those supplying sheet, coil, strip, cut lengths, roof panels, clips and tiles. EN 507:2026 supersedes EN 507:2019. The stated technical change is an extended list of aluminium alloys suitable for roofing and cladding products, reflected in Clause 4.2.1.

In this document the performance of the product has been defined in terms of a number of type tests.
The performance of a roof or cladding constructed with these products depends not only on the
properties of the product as it is required by this document, but also on the design, construction and
performance of the roof or the cladding as a whole in relation to the environment and conditions of use.
Metallic coated aluminium sheet can be easily fabricated. It can be sheared, punched, pressed, drawn,
folded, roll-formed without difficulty within the given limits of the properties listed in the respective
material specifications.
Coil coated sheet can be fabricated like metallic coated aluminium sheet in most applications, but
minimum bend radius, design of forming tools, process temperature etc are chosen according to
material properties.
