ISO 23900-1:2015 provides an introduction to the various parts of ISO 23900 which describe methods for dispersing pigments and extenders in plastics materials in order to determine their dispersion characteristics and colouristic properties. Methods of assessing dispersion characteristics are described in the subsequent parts of ISO 23900.
The various procedures described permit comparison to be made between similar pigments (for example between a test sample and an agreed reference pigment). The results provide an indication of relative dispersibility under practical conditions of use, provided that the test procedure and plastics material selected are appropriate.

ISO 23900-1:2015 est une introduction aux différentes parties de l'ISO 23900 qui décrivent les méthodes de dispersion des pigments et matières de charge dans les matières plastiques afin de déterminer leurs caractéristiques de dispersion et leurs propriétés colorimétriques.
Les méthodes d'évaluation des caractéristiques de dispersion sont décrites dans les parties suivantes de l'ISO 23900.
Les différents modes opératoires décrits permettent d'effectuer des comparaisons entre des pigments similaires (par exemple entre un échantillon pour essai et un pigment de référence convenu). Les résultats donnent une indication de l'aptitude à la dispersion relative dans les conditions pratiques d'utilisation, à condition que le mode opératoire d'essai et la matière plastique choisie soient appropriés.

Standard ISO 23900-1:2015 podaja uvod v različne dele standarda ISO 23900, ki opisujejo metode za disperzijo pigmentov in polnil v polimernih materialih za določanje njihovih dispergirnih značilnosti in barvnih lastnosti. Metode ocenjevanja dispergirnih značilnosti so opisane v nadaljnjih delih standarda ISO 23900.
Različni opisani postopki omogočajo primerjavo podobnih pigmentov (na primer preskusnega vzorca in dogovorjenih referenčnih pigmentov). Rezultati ponujajo vpogled v sorazmerne disperzije v praktičnih pogojih uporabe pod pogojem, da sta izbrana primeren preskusni postopek in polimerni material.

The text of ISO 23900-1:2015 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 256 “Pigments,
dyestuffs and extenders” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken
over as EN ISO 23900-1:2018 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 298 “Pigments and extenders” the
secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by July 2018, and conflicting national standards shall be
withdrawn at the latest by July 2018.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 13900-1:2003.
According to the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the
