Overview

oSIST prEN 2287:2026 is the forthcoming Slovenian standard aligned with European draft standard prEN 2287. It specifies the required characteristics for plain bushes made from corrosion resisting steel and equipped with a self-lubricating liner, focusing on their dimensions and permissible loads. This standard is vital within the aerospace industry, ensuring reliability, safety, and interchangeability for bushes operating within challenging environments typical for aviation and space applications.

The document outlines specifications for bushes intended for assembly via interference fit in both fixed and moving aerospace components. It covers critical parameters such as configuration, surface treatments, materials, marking, and quality management, supporting the rigorous technical, operational, and safety requirements of the aerospace sector.

Keywords: aerospace bush, corrosion resisting steel, self-lubricating liner, aerospace standard, bush dimensions, bush loads, interference fit

Key Topics

  • Configuration, Dimensions, and Masses:
Bushes must conform to specific geometries and mass requirements to guarantee fit and function in aerospace designs.
  • Materials:
    • Steel options align with recognized aerospace standards such as EN 3490, EN 3161, and equivalents.
    • Self-lubricating liners must be wear-resistant and comply with EN 2311.
  • Surface Treatments:
    • Passivation, when specified, follows the AMS 2700 standard.
    • Surface roughness requirements are detailed to ensure consistent performance and compatibility.
  • Mechanical Loads:
The standard provides permissible radial static and dynamic loads for various bush sizes, supporting engineering calculations for component selection.
  • Mounting Recommendations:
Guidelines for interference fit installation, including shaft and housing specifications, help ensure optimal bush performance.
  • Marking and Identification:
Clearly defines how bushes and packaging should be marked, supporting traceability and compliance.
  • Quality Management:
Manufacturers must implement an aerospace-recognized quality management system, such as EN 9100.

Applications

oSIST prEN 2287:2026 is essential for:

  • Aircraft and Spacecraft Manufacturers:
Ensures that plain bushes used in assemblies meet standardized requirements for compatibility and performance.
  • Component Suppliers:
Supports the production of high-reliability bush components that are compatible with European aerospace projects.
  • Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MROs):
Provides verified, standards-based criteria for replacement bushes, reinforcing safety and efficiency in maintenance cycles.
  • Design and Engineering Teams:
Facilitates the selection and integration of bushings into new designs, ensuring compliance with international best practices.

These bushes withstand wide temperature ranges (−55°C to 163°C) and high loads, making them suitable for various critical applications, such as flight controls, landing gear, actuators, and other moving assemblies where low maintenance and long life are required.
