IEC 62368-1:2023 is available as IEC 62368-1:2023 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition.IEC 62368-1:2023 is a product safety standard that classifies energy sources, prescribes safeguards against those energy sources, and provides guidance on the application of, and requirements for, those safeguards. The prescribed safeguards are intended to reduce the likelihood of pain, injury and, in the case of fire, property damage. The objective of the introduction is to help designers to understand the underlying principles of safety in order to design safe equipment. These principles are informative and not an alternative to the detailed requirements of this document.

IEC 62368-3:2017 applies to equipment intended to supply and receive operating power through communication cables or ports. It covers particular requirements for circuits that are designed to transfer DC power from a power sourcing equipment (PSE) to a powered device (PD). The power transfer uses voltages at ES1 or ES2 or in very specific cases voltage levels at ES3. Any cable provided with a connector defined by an industry standard that permits DC power transfer between equipment is considered a communication cable even if communication does not take place. For example, a USB cable can be used just to recharge a portable device battery. This International Standard is to be used in conjunction with IEC 62368-1:2014. It has the status of a group safety publication in accordance with IEC Guide 104. The subclauses of IEC 62368-1 apply as far as reasonable. Where safety aspects are similar to those of IEC 62368-1, the relevant clause or subclause of IEC 62368-1 is given for reference in a note in the relevant subclause. Where a requirement in IEC 62368-3 refers to a requirement or criterion of IEC 62368-1, a specific reference to IEC 62368-1 is made. This group safety publication is primarily intended to be used as a product safety standard for the products mentioned in the scope, but shall also be used by technical committees in the preparation of standards for products similar to those mentioned in the scope of this standard, in accordance with the principles laid down in IEC Guide 104 and lSO/lEC Guide 51. Keywords: Communication, Safety, Cables, DC Power Transfer,

In addition, requirements for protection of the outdoor equipment against the effects of direct lightning strikes are not covered by the standard. For information on this subject, see IEC 62305-1. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2005. It constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: More extensive requirements for battery ventilation. Key words: Outdoor Equipment, Outdoor Locations, Outdoor Enclosure This publication is to be read in conjunction with IEC 60950-1:2005.

IEC 60990:2016 is available as IEC 60990:2016 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition. IEC 60990:2016 defines measurement methods for d.c. or a.c. current of sinusoidal or non-sinusoidal waveform, which could flow through the human body, and current flowing through a protective conductor. The measuring methods recommended for TOUCH CURRENT are based upon the possible effects of current flowing through a human body. In this standard, measurements of current through networks representing the impedance of the human body are referred to as measurements of TOUCH CURRENT. These networks are not necessarily valid for the bodies of animals. The specification or implication of specific limit values is not within the scope of this standard. IEC TS 60479 series provides information regarding the effects of current passing through the human body from which limit values may be derived. This standard is applicable to all classes of EQUIPMENT, according to IEC 61140. The methods of measurement in this standard are not intended to be used for TOUCH CURRENTS having less than 1 s duration, patient currents as defined in IEC 60601-1, a.c. at frequencies below 15 Hz, and currents above those chosen for ELECTRIC BURN limits. This third edition cancels and replaces the second edition published in 1999. It constitutes a technical revision. The principal changes in this edition as compared with the second edition are as follows: - the effects names have been updated to reflect increased understanding of the range of effects and is in concert with present usage; - the conditions of use invoking a GRIPPABLE PART have been reduced in the application of the requirements based upon the current understanding of this effect; - the references to ISO 10012-1, which has been replaced by management standard of the same number, have been replaced with explanatory text, where needed to maintain the sense of the document; - former informative Annex H (GRIPPABLE PART) has been deleted from this update as it does not properly represent the full set of conditions under which immobilization can occur. A new informative Annex H (Analysis of frequency filtered touch current circuits measurement) has been added and the Bibliography (formerly Annex M) has been updated with additional references for completeness. This basic safety publication is primarily intended for use by technical committees in the preparation of standards in accordance with the principles laid down in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51. It is not intended for use by manufacturers or certification bodies independent of product standards. Key words: Touch Current, Protective Conductor Current, Current Flow

This European Standard applies to equipment designed and intended to be connected as a terminal to a TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM termination. It does not apply to equipment covered by EN 60950-1 and EN 60065. This European Standard specifies the safety requirements of the interface to the TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or the CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM only and it does not specify any other safety requirements. It applies regardless of ownership or responsibility for installation or maintenance of the equipment, and regardless of the source of power. This European Standard, in accordance with the 'principles of safety' given in the introduction of EN 60950-1, covers the requirements and compliance criteria under three headings. • Protection of equipment USERS from hazards in the equipment. The USER is considered to be protected from hazards in the equipment if the equipment complies with a relevant safety standard, for example one of those listed in Annex A, but compliance with those standards is not part of this European Standard. • Protection of SERVICE PERSONNEL working on a TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM and other USERS of a TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, from hazardous conditions on a TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM resulting from the connection of the equipment. • Protection of equipment USERS from voltages on a TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORK and/or a CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM. Requirements additional to those specified in this European Standard may be necessary for • equipment intended for operation while exposed, for example, to extremes of temperature, to excessive dust, moisture, or vibration, to flammable gases, to corrosive or explosive atmospheres, • electromedical applications with physical connections to the patient. The requirements for the following items are not covered by this European Standard: • functional reliability of equipment; • communication facilities with remote supply using hazardous voltage; • protection of equipment, TELECOMMUNICATION NETWORKS and/or CABLE DISTRIBUTION SYSTEMS from damage.

This EMC Standard applies to single UPS units or UPS systems comprising a number of interconnected UPS and associated control/switchgear forming a single power system, intended to be installed in any operator accessible area or in separated electrical locations, connected to either industrial or public low voltage supply networks. This product EMC Standard will take precedence over all aspects of the Generic Standards and no additional testing is necessary. The requirements have been selected so as to ensure an adequate level of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) for UPS at public and industrial locations. These levels cannot however cover extreme cases which may occur in any location, but with extremely low probability. It takes account of the differing test conditions necessary to encompass the range of physical sizes and power ratings of UPS. A UPS unit or system shall meet the relevant requirements of this Standard as a stand-alone product. EMC phenomena produced by any customers' load connected to the output of the UPS equipment shall not be taken into account.
