1.1 This European Standard specifies the different types of inspection documents supplied to the purchaser, in accordance with the requirements of the order, for the delivery of all metallic products e.g. plates, sheets, bars, forgings, castings, whatever their method of production.
1.2 This standard may also apply to non-metallic products.
1.3 This standard is used in conjunction with the product specifications which specify the technical delivery conditions of the products.
NOTE 1 The list of information that may be included in the inspection documents can be found in appropriate documents, e.g. prEN 10168 for steel.
NOTE 2 Annex A gives a summary of the different inspection documents.

1.1. In diesem Dokument sind die verschiedenen Arten von Prüfbescheinigungen festgelegt, die dem Besteller in
Übereinstimmung mit den Vereinbarungen bei der Bestellung für die Lieferung von allen metallischen
Erzeugnissen, wie z. B. Blechen, Feinblechen, Stangen, Schmiedestücken, Gussstücken, zur Verfügung gestellt
werden können, unabhängig von der Art ihrer Herstellung.
1.2 Dieses Dokument darf auch für nichtmetallische Erzeugnisse angewendet werden.
1.3 Dieses Dokument ist zusammen mit den Erzeugnisspezifikationen anzuwenden, in denen die technischen
Lieferbedingungen für die Erzeugnisse festgelegt sind.
ANMERKUNG 1 Informationen über den möglichen Inhalt von Prüfbescheinigungen können aus entsprechenden Dokumenten
entnommen werden, z. B. EN 10168 für Stahl.
ANMERKUNG 2 Anhang A gibt eine Übersicht über die verschiedenen Prüfbescheinigungen.

This document (EN 10204:2004) has been prepared by Technical Committee ECISS/TC 9 “Technical conditions of
delivery and quality control”, the secretariat of which is held by IBN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or
by endorsement, at the latest by April 2005, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by
April 2005.
This document supersedes EN 10204:1991.
This document has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European
Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directives 97/23/EC.
For relationship with EU Directive 97/23/EC, see informative Annex ZA, which is an integral part of this document.
The main changes are:
new definitions: “manufacturer” , “intermediary”, “product specification”;
reduction of the number of inspection documents:
type 2.3 of the previous edition has been deleted;
type 3.1 replaces type 3.1.B of the previous edition;
type 3.2 replaces types 3.1.A, 3.1. C and the inspection report 3.2 of the previous edition.

2 Terms and definitions
For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

non-specific inspection
inspection carried out by the manufacturer in accordance with his own procedures to assess whether products
defined by the same product specification and made by the same manufacturing process, are in compliance with
the requirements of the order or not.
The products inspected are not necessarily the products actually supplied

specific inspection
inspection carried out, before delivery, according to the product specification, on the products to be supplied or on
test units of which the products supplied are part, in order to verify that these products are in compliance with the
requirements of the order

organization that manufactures the respective products according to the requirements of the order and to the

Vorwort
Dieses Dokument EN 10204:2004 wurde vom Technischen Komitee ECISS/TC 9 „Technische Lieferbedingungen
und Qualitätssicherung“ erarbeitet, dessen Sekretariat vom IBN gehalten wird.
Diese Europäische Norm muss den Status einer nationalen Norm erhalten, entweder durch Veröffentlichung eines
identischen Textes oder durch Anerkennung bis April 2005, und etwaige entgegenstehende nationale Normen
müssen bis April 2005 zurückgezogen werden.
Dieses Dokument ersetzt EN 10204:1991.
Diese Europäische Norm ist durch die Europäische Kommission und die Europäische Freihandelsorganisation
mandatiert und unterstützt grundlegende Anforderungen der EU-Direktive 97/23/EG.
Die Beziehungen zur EU-Direktive 97/23/EG sind im informativen Anhang ZA dieser Norm angegeben.
Die wichtigsten Änderungen sind:
Einführung neuer Begriffe „Hersteller“, „Händler“ und „Erzeugnisspezifikation“;
Verringerung der Anzahl von Prüfbescheinigungen;
Streichung des Werkszeugnisses 2.3 der früheren Ausgabe;
Abnahmeprüfzeugnis 3.1 ersetzt 3.1.B der früheren Ausgabe;
Abnahmeprüfzeugnis 3.2 ersetzt 3.1.A, 3.1.C und 3.2 der früheren Ausgabe.
