This European Standard specifies requirements to be met for the design, dimensions, performance and testing of the brake disc.
This European Standard applies to brake discs mounted onto the wheel, including the wheel web or wheel hub of railway rolling stock.
For each discrete unit so fitted, one or more disc brake rings, each having one friction face, may be deployed.
This European Standard applies to discs designed to be fitted to rail vehicles used on the main national net-works, urban networks, underground railways, trams, private networks (regional railways, company railways, etc.).
In addition to the common requirements, this European Standard also requires the items detailed in Clause 5 to be documented. For compliance with this European Standard, both the common requirements and the documented items need to be met.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Anforderungen fest, die für Konstruktion, Abmessungen, Leistung und Prüfung der Bremsscheibe zu erfüllen sind.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Bremsscheiben, die auf dem Rad, einschließlich der Radscheibe oder der Radnabe, von Schienenfahrzeugen befestigt werden.
Jede einzelne derart befestigte Einheit kann einen oder mehrere Bremsringe mit je zwei axial getrennten Reibflächen aufweisen.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt für Bremsscheiben, die für Schienenfahrzeuge konstruiert sind, die auf nationalen, städtischen U-Bahn-, Straßenbahn- oder auf privaten Schienennetzen (Regionalbahnen, Werksbahnen, usw.) betrieben werden.
Zusätzlich zu den allgemeinen Anforderungen fordert diese Europäische Norm darüber hinaus, dass die in Abschnitt 5 aufgeführten Einzelheiten zu dokumentieren sind. Für die Übereinstimmung mit dieser Europäischen Norm sind sowohl die allgemeinen Anforderungen als auch die dokumentierten Einzelheiten zu erfüllen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences à respecter pour la conception, les dimensions, les performances et les essais de disques de frein.
La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux disques de frein montés sur la roue, que ce soit sur la toile ou le moyeu de la roue d’un matériel roulant ferroviaire.
Chaque unité ainsi fixée peut comprendre une ou plusieurs couronnes de disque de frein, chaque couronne ayant une surface de friction.
La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux disques de frein conçus pour équiper les véhicules ferroviaires utilisés par les réseaux principaux nationaux, les réseaux urbains, métropolitains, les tramways et les réseaux privés (chemins de fer régionaux, compagnies privées, etc.).
En plus des exigences communes, la présente Norme européenne exige aussi que les éléments énumérés à l'article 5 soient documentés. Pour satisfaire à cette Norme européenne, les exigences communes et les éléments documentés doivent à la fois être respectés.
