This document, part of EN 13130, specifies an analytical procedure for the determination of 4-methyl-1-pentene in food simulants distilled water, 3 % (w/v) aqueous acetic acid aqueous solution, 15 % (v/v) aqueous ethanol aqueous solution and rectified olive oil. The level of
4-methyl-1-pentene monomer determined is expressed as milligrams per kilogram of food simulant. In principle, the method is appropriate for the quantitative determination of 4-methyl-1-pentene at a minimum level of 0,005 mg/kg in all of the four food simulants. However, in the case of interferences, which have been observed for some olive oil batches, the detection limit can be compromised correspondingly.
NOTE   The method should also be applicable to other aqueous food simulants as well as to other fatty food simulants such as corn oil, sunflower oil and a mixture of synthetic triglycerides.

Diese Technische Spezifikation, Teil der EN 13130, legt ein Analyseverfahren zur Bestimmung von 4 Methyl-1-Penten in den Prüflebensmitteln destilliertes Wasser, 3%ige Essigsäure (m/V) in wässriger Lösung, 15%iges Ethanol (Volumenanteil) in wässriger Lösung und rektifiziertes Olivenöl fest. Der ermittelte Gehalt an monomerem 4-Methyl-1-Penten wird in Milligramm je Kilogramm Prüflebensmittel angegeben. Im Prinzip eignet sich das Verfahren zur quantitativen Bestimmung von 4-Methyl-1-Penten bei einem Mindestgehalt von 0,005 mg/kg in allen vier Prüflebensmitteln. Im Fall von Interferenzen, die bei einigen Chargen von Olivenöl beobachtet wurden, kann es dementsprechend zur Abweichung von der Nachweisgrenze kommen.
ANMERKUNG   Das Verfahren sollte auch auf andere wässrige Prüflebensmittel sowie weitere fettige Prüflebensmittel, wie z. B. Maiskeimöl, Sonnenblumenöl und eine Mischung synthetischer Triglyceride, anwendbar sein.

Le présent document qui fait partie de l'EN 13130, spécifie un mode opératoire d'analyse pour la détermination du 4 méthyl 1 pentène dans les quatre simulants d'aliments suivants : eau distillée, solution aqueuse d'acide acétique à 3 % (m/v), solution aqueuse d'éthanol à 15 % (v/v) et huile d'olive rectifiée. La teneur en monomère de 4 méthyl 1 pentène est exprimée en milligrammes par kilogramme de simulant d'aliments. En principe, cette méthode convient pour la détermination quantitative du 4 méthyl 1 pentène pour une concentration minimale de 0,005 milligrammes par kilogramme de simulant d'aliments. Toutefois, des interférences ont été observées pour certains lots d'huile d'olive, ce qui peut nuire à la qualité de la limite de détection.
NOTE   Il convient que cette méthode puisse également être appliquée à d'autres simulants aqueux ainsi qu'à d'autres simulants gras tels que l'huile de maïs, l'huile de tournesol ou un mélange de triglycérides synthétiques.
