Outdoor furniture - Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use - Part 1: General safety requirements

This European Standard specifies the general safety requirements for outdoor seating and tables for adults for camping, domestic and contract use.
It does not apply to removable upholstery, coverings, seating for spectator facilities, seating and tables for children.
Mechanical safety requirements are covered by prEN 581-2 for seating and prEN 581-3 for tables.
Annex A (informative) is a schematic presentation of requirements and conditions concerning shear and squeeze points.
Annex B (informative) is a rational concerning fingers entrapment.

Außenmöbel - Sitzmöbel und Tische für den Camping-, Wohn- und Objektbereich - Teil 1: Allgemeine sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen

Diese Europäische Norm legt allgemeine sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen für Außensitzmöbel und Außentische für Erwachsene für den Camping , Wohn  und Objektbereich fest.
Sie gilt nicht für abnehmbare Polster, Abdeckungen, Sitzmöbel für Zuschauertribünen sowie Sitzmöbel und Tische für Kinder.
Mechanische sicherheitstechnische Anforderungen sind für Sitzmöbel in FprEN 581 2 und für Tische in prEN 581 3 festgelegt.
Anhang A (informativ) enthält eine schematische Darstellung der Anforderungen und Bedingungen bezüglich Scher  und Quetschstellen.
Anhang B (informativ) besteht aus einer Begründung zu Fingerfangstellen.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences générales de sécurité des sièges et tables pour adultes à usage domestique, collectif et de camping.
Elle ne s’applique pas aux rembourrages, revêtements amovibles, aux installations pour spectateurs, aux sièges et tables pour enfants.
Les exigences mécaniques sont couvertes par les normes NF EN 581-2 pour les sièges et NF EN 581-3 pour les tables.
L’annexe A (informative) contient une représentation schématique des exigences et conditions relatives aux points de cisaillement et de pincement.
L’annexe B (informative) est un rational relatif au coincement des doigts.

Ta evropski standard določa splošne varnostne zahteve za zunanje sedežno pohištvo in mize za odrasle za domačo in javno uporabo ter taborjenje.
Ne uporablja se za snemljivo oblazinjenje, prevleke, sedeže v prostorih za gledalce ter sedeže in mize za otroke.
Mehanske varnostne zahteve so vključene v standardu prEN 581-2 za sedenje in standardu prEN 581-3 za mize.
Dodatek A (informativni) je shematski prikaz zahtev in pogojev v zvezi s točkami striženja in stiskanja.
Dodatek B (informativni) je utemeljitev prilagoditev za preprečevanje ukleščenja prstov.

This document (EN 581-1:2017) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 207 “Furniture”,
the secretariat of which is held by UNI.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by September 2017, and conflicting national standards
shall be withdrawn at the latest by September 2017.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of
patent rights. CEN shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 581-1:2006.
Compared to EN 581-1:2006, the main modifications are:
— clarification of the definitions (camping, domestic and contract use) taken from Annex B and put in
Clause 3 (so Annex B will be superseded),
— test method is deleted, edges and corners are modified to take into account accessible part during
use (accessible parts for seating and tables are defined),
— tubular components are defined, requirements for gaps and holes removed,
— addition of an Annex B (informative) as a rationale to explain the risks covered with requirements
in Clause 5.
