Outdoor furniture - Seating and tables for camping, domestic and contract use - Part 2: Mechanical safety requirements and test methods for seating

This part of EN 581 specifies the mechanical safety requirements and test methods of outdoor seating for camping, domestic and contract use for adults, without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. This document does not apply to outdoor furniture for severe contract use, where higher requirements may be necessary nor to removable upholstery and coverings, permanently fixed furniture and street furniture. The test requirements contained within this European Standard are based on use by persons weighing up to 110 kg. Information regarding ageing and degradation caused by light, temperature and moisture has not been included. Annex A (normative) specifies additional test methods for seating with multi-position back rests. Annex B (normative) specifies test methods for loungers. Annex C (informative) specifies guidelines for purchase information.

Diese Europäische Norm legt die Mindestanforderungen an die Sicherheit, Festigkeit und Dauerhaltbarkeit für alle Arten von Außensitzmöbeln für Erwachsene, unabhängig von Werkstoffen, Design/Konstruktion oder Herstellungsprozessen, fest.
Sie gilt nicht für öffentlich aufgestellte Straßenmöbel.
Sie gilt nicht für abnehmbare Polster und Bezüge.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Dauerhaltbarkeit von Rollen/Rädern und an Mechanismen zur Höhenverstellung.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die elektrische Sicherheit.
Sie enthält keine Anforderungen an die Alterungsbeständigkeit und an durch Licht, Temperatur und Feuchtigkeit verursachte Qualitätsminderungen.
Die in dieser Norm enthaltenen Prüfanforderungen beruhen auf dem Gebrauch durch Personen mit einem Körpergewicht bis zu 110 kg.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie les exigences minimales en matière de sécurité, de résistance et de durabilité de tous les types de sièges d’extérieur pour adultes, indépendamment de la nature des matériaux, de la conception/construction ou des procédés de fabrication.
Elle ne s’applique pas au mobilier urbain.
Elle ne s’applique pas aux garnissages amovibles et revêtements.
Elle n’inclut pas d’exigences relatives à la durabilité des roues/roulettes et des mécanismes de réglage de la hauteur.
Elle n’inclut pas d’exigences relatives à la sécurité électrique.
Elle n’inclut pas d’exigences relatives à la résistance au vieillissement et aux détériorations dues à la lumière, à la température et à l’humidité.
Les exigences d’essai contenues dans la présente norme sont basées sur un usage par des personnes pesant jusqu’à 110 kg.

Ta del standarda EN 581 določa mehanske varnostne zahteve in preskusne metode zunanjega sedežnega pohištva za domačo in javno uporabo ter taborjenje za odrasle, ne glede na materiale, model/konstrukcijo ali proizvodne postopke. Ta dokument ne velja za zunanje pohištvo za intenzivno javno uporabo, pri katerem so lahko potrebne strožje zahteve, ne za snemljivo oblazinjenje in prevleke, trajno pritrjeno pohištvo ali cestno opremo. Preskusne zahteve, ki jih vsebuje ta evropski standard, temeljijo na uporabi osebe, ki tehta največ 110 kg. Ne vključuje informacij v zvezi s staranjem in razpadom, ki ga povzročajo svetloba, temperatura in vlaga. This document (EN 581-2:2015) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 207 “Furniture”,

the secretariat of which is held by UNI.

This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an

identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by May 2016, and conflicting national standards shall be

withdrawn at the latest by May 2016.

Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of

patent rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent

rights.
This document supersedes EN 581-2:2009.
Compared to the current version, the main modifications are:

— new requirements for tests, and loungers are no longer in an annex but in the standard, which is a

simplification of the standard (requirements and clauses harmonized with the Clause 7 of the

standard);
— a simplification of chapters has been made: test equipment;
— a modification of reference (EN 1728:2012) has been made.

1 Scope

This European Standard specifies the minimum requirements for the safety, strength and durability of

all types of outdoor seating for adults, without regard to materials, design/construction or

manufacturing processes.
It does not apply to street furniture.
It does not apply to removable upholstery and covering.

It does not include requirements for the durability of castors/wheels and height adjustment

mechanisms.
It does not include requirements for electrical safety.

It does not include requirements for the resistance to ageing and degradation caused by light,

temperature and moisture.

The test requirements contained within this standard are based on use by persons weighing up to 110

kg.

For the purposes of this document, the following terms and definitions apply.

outdoor seating foldable or knock-down and light-weight, intended for use in connection with camping

seating intended for reclined posture with at least one backrest position with an “teta angle” between 0°

and 45° and a leg rest which is integral part of the product and which is intended to support the full

body weight of a user
