IEC 62386-104:2019 The IEC 62386 series specifies a bus system for control by digital signals of electronic lighting equipment. This part of IEC 62386 applies to a system with wireless or alternative wired communication between its units, instead of a wired bus system, where the meaning of “wireless or alternative wired communication”, or in short “telecommunication”, is any type of communication network different from the wired system described in IEC 62386-101. Where the electronic lighting equipment is covered by the scope of IEC 61347 (all parts), it is in line with the requirements of IEC 61347 (all parts), with the addition of DC supplies.

This international Standard specifies performance requirements for electronic control gear for use on a.c. at 50 Hz or 60 Hz and/or d.c. supplies, both up to 1 000 V, with operating frequencies deviating from the supply frequency, associated with fluorescent lamps as specified in IEC 60081 and IEC 60901, and other fluorescent lamps for high-frequency operation.
NOTE 1 Tests in this standard are type tests. Requirements for testing individual control gear during production are not included.
NOTE 2 There are regional standards regarding the regulation of mains current harmonics and immunity for endproducts like luminaires and independent control gear. In a luminaire, the control gear is dominant in this respect. Control gear, together with other components, should comply with these standards.

This part of EN 61347 specifies particular general and safety requirements for d.c. or a.c. supplied electronic ballasts. The supply comprises a.c. voltages up to 1000 V at 50 Hz/60 Hz. The type of ballast is an convertor that may contain igniting and stabilising elements for operation of a discharge lamp at d.c. or at a frequency that can deviate from the supply frequency. The lamps associated with the ballast are specified in EN 60188 (High pressure mercury vapour lamps), EN 60192 (Low pressure sodium vapour lamps), EN 60662 (High pressure sodium vapour lamps), EN 61167 (Metal halide lamps) and else for general purpose lighting. Ballasts for fluorescent lamps and for lamps for special applications like for theatre and for vehicles are excluded.
