IEC 63173-2:2022 the scope of secure communication between ship and shore (SECOM) includes interfaces (APIs) for data exchange (information services), information security measures to enable secure communication and interfaces for service discoverability. SECOM provides technical interoperability, where the same service interface is used for exchanging the information regardless of its operational use, up to the level of exchanging information securely online. Although designed for IHO S-100 based products, SECOM is technically payload agnostic and applicable also for other types of data.
Communication between SECOM information services for data exchange relies on IP based web services. The "last mile" links between a SECOM information service and the end-user application is not defined in this document, thus the communication technology between the vendor API and a ship/shore system can be non-IP based as well as IP based. IEC 62288:2014 specifies the general requirements, methods of testing, and required test results for the presentation of navigation-related information on shipborne navigational displays in support of IMO resolutions MSC.191(79) and MSC.302(87). This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition:
- References to IBS have been removed as IMO has revoked MSC.64(67) Annex 1:1996, Performance standards for integrated bridge systems (IBS).

It takes account of IMO resolution A.694(17) and is associated with IEC 60945. When a requirement in this standard is different from IEC 60945, the requirement in this standard takes precedence. This standard incorporates the applicable parts of the performance standards included in IMO Resolution MSC.333(90). This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition.
a) The description of the protective capsule in 4.3.4 has been changed in line with the requirements of the new IMO performance standards given in Resolution MSC.333(90) which now require a final recording medium comprising three parts; fixed, float-free and long-term.
b) A new requirement for a performance test has been added in 4.3.6.

IEC 62287-1:2010 specifies the minimum operational and performance requirements, methods of testing and required test results for Class B shipborne AIS equipment using CSTDMA techniques. This standard takes into account other associated IEC International Standards and existing national standards, as applicable. It is applicable for AIS equipment used on craft that are not covered by the mandatory carriage requirement of AIS under SOLAS Chapter V. The major technical changes with respect to the first edition are the following. The reference to the relevant recommendation of the ITU has been updated from M.1371-1 to M.1371-4 with some consequential small changes. A previous option of providing short safety-related messages in 6.5.1.5 has been removed on advice from the IMO. A new requirement for a default MMSI has been added in 6.4 and a further new requirement for protection from invalid control commands has been added in 6.8. Some test methods have been updated and, in particular, small revisions have been made to the frequencies used for testing in some of the test methods.
