This document establishes requirements for the installation of embedded radiant heating and cooling systems. It specifies general and uniform requirements for the design and construction of heating and cooling floors, ceiling and wall structures to ensure that the heating/cooling systems are suited to the particular application. The requirements specified by this document are applicable only to the components of the heating/cooling systems and the elements which are part of the heating/cooling surface and which are installed due to the heating/cooling systems.
This document is applicable to water-based embedded surface heating and cooling systems in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. The methods apply to systems integrated into the wall, floor or ceiling construction without any open-air gaps, but are not applicable to panel systems with open-air gaps which are not integrated into the building structure.

Dieses Dokument legt Anforderungen für die Installation flächenintegrierter Strahlungsheiz- und kühlsysteme fest. Es werden allgemeine und einheitliche Anforderungen an die Auslegung und Konstruktion der Fußboden-, Decken- und Wandheiz- und kühlsysteme bestimmt, um die Tauglichkeit der Heiz- bzw. Kühlsysteme für ihre jeweilige Anwendung sicherzustellen. Die in diesem Dokument festgelegten Anforderungen sind nur für die Komponenten der Heiz- bzw. Kühlsysteme sowie für die Elemente, die Teil der Heiz- bzw. Kühloberfläche sind und im Zusammenhang mit dem Heiz- bzw. Kühlsystem installiert werden, anwendbar.
Dieses Dokument ist für integrierte Flächenheiz- und kühlsysteme mit Wasserdurchströmung in Wohn-, Gewerbe- und Industriegebäuden anwendbar. Die Verfahren sind für in Wände, Boden und Deckenkonstruktionen flächenintegrierte Systeme ohne offene Luftspalte anwendbar. Die Verfahren sind nicht anwendbar für Flächensysteme mit offenen Luftspalten, die nicht in die Gebäudestruktur eingebunden sind.

Le présent document établit les exigences relatives à l’installation de systèmes intégrés de chauffage et de refroidissement par rayonnement. Elle spécifie des exigences générales et uniformisées pour la conception et la construction des structures de chauffage et de refroidissement par le sol, le plafond et les murs, permettant de garantir que les systèmes de chauffage/refroidissement sont adaptés à l’application considérée. Les exigences spécifiées dans le présent document ne s’appliquent qu’aux composants des systèmes de chauffage/refroidissement et aux éléments constituant la surface de chauffage/refroidissement installés en raison de la présence des systèmes de chauffage/refroidissement.
Le présent document s’applique aux systèmes intégrés de chauffage et de refroidissement de surface à eau dans les bâtiments résidentiels, commerciaux et industriels. Ces méthodes s’appliquent aux systèmes intégrés dans les murs, sols ou plafonds, sans ouverture à l’air libre. Elles ne s’appliquent pas aux systèmes de panneaux avec ouvertures à l’air libre, qui ne sont pas intégrés dans une structure de bâtiment.

Ta dokument določa zahteve za vgradnjo vgrajenih sevalnih ogrevalnih in hladilnih sistemov. Določa splošne in enotne zahteve za načrtovanje oziroma konstrukcijo ogrevalnih ter hladilnih talnih, stropnih in stenskih struktur, da bi se zagotovilo, da so ogrevalni/hladilni sistemi primerni za posamezno vrsto uporabe. Zahteve v tem dokumentu se navezujejo le na komponente ogrevalnih/hladilnih sistemov in elemente, ki so del ogrevalne/hladilne površine in so vgrajeni zaradi ogrevalnih/hladilnih sistemov.
Ta dokument se uporablja za vgrajene ploskovne sisteme za ogrevanje in hlajenje z vodo v stanovanjskih, poslovnih ter industrijskih stavbah. Metode se uporabljajo za sisteme, vgrajene v stensko, talno ali stropno konstrukcijo brez odprtih vmesnih zračnih prostorov, ne pa tudi za sisteme plošč z odprtim vmesnim zračnim prostorom, ki ni vključen v strukturo stavbe.

This document (EN ISO 11855-5:2021) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 205
"Building environment design" in collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 228 “Heating
systems and water based cooling systems in buildings” the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2022, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by March 2022.

This document was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 205, Building environment design, in
collaboration with the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) Technical Committee CEN/TC
228, Heating systems and water based cooling systems in buildings, in accordance with the Agreement on
technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition (ISO 11855-5:2012), which has been
technically revised.
The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:
— modified Clause 2 (Normative references) and the Bibliography;
— modified Clause 4 (Symbols);
— added a new subclause on vapour barrier and other layers (see 5.1.2.2);
— modified the subclause on insulating layers, perimeter insulating strip adding a new approach and
adding details for thermal resistance of insulating layer (see 5.1.2.3);
— added new subclauses on insulating layers for systems in new constructions (see 5.1.2.3.2) and in
refurbished systems (see 5.1.2.3.3);
— modified the subclauses on joints (see 5.1.2.8.3), leak test (see 5.1.3), initial heating up of the
emission system (see 5.1.4) and general structural preconditions (see 5.2.2);
— removed the subclause on maximum heating fluid flow temperatures (previously 5.2.4);
— improved wording and made editorial changes.

Introduction
The radiant heating and cooling system consists of heat emitting/absorbing, heat supply, distribution,
and control systems. The ISO 11855 series deals with the embedded surface heating and cooling system
that directly controls heat exchange within the space. It does not include the system equipment itself,
such as heat source, distribution system and controller.
The ISO 11855 series addresses an embedded system that is integrated with the building structure.
Therefore, the panel system with open air gap, which is not integrated with the building structure, is
not covered by this series.
The ISO 11855 series is applicable to water-based embedded surface heating and cooling systems
