Cryogenic vessels - Hoses (ISO 21012:2018)
ISO 21012:2018 specifies design, construction, type and production testing, and marking requirements for non-insulated cryogenic flexible hoses used for the transfer of cryogenic fluids within the following range of operating conditions:
- working temperature: from −270 °C to +65 °C;
- nominal size (DN): from 10 to 100.
End fittings for mounting of any couplings are within the scope of this document, but the couplings are subject to other standards.
ISO 21012:2018 is intended that the hose be designed and tested to satisfy the generally accepted rated pressure i.e. at least PR 40. Hoses may be then selected with a PR equal to or greater than the maximum allowable pressure (PS) of the equipment to which it is to be used.
— Arbeitstemperaturbereich: von −270 °C bis +65 °C;
- température de service: entre − 270 °C et + 65 °C;
Kriogene posode - Gibke cevi (ISO 21012:2018)

The EN ISO 21012:2018 standard, titled "Cryogenic vessels - Hoses," provides comprehensive specifications for the design, construction, type and production testing, and marking of non-insulated cryogenic flexible hoses intended for the transfer of cryogenic fluids. The standard notably addresses a broad range of operating conditions, specifically a working temperature that spans from −270 °C to +65 °C, which is crucial for applications involving extremely low temperatures. One of the key strengths of ISO 21012:2018 lies in its clear delineation of requirements for nominal sizes (DN) ranging from 10 to 100. This range demonstrates the standard's adaptability to varied applications and industry needs. Moreover, the inclusion of end fittings for the mounting of couplings ensures that users have a comprehensive guide for integrating hoses with existing systems, although it appropriately clarifies that the couplings themselves are subject to other applicable standards. Another significant aspect of this standard is its emphasis on safety and performance. ISO 21012:2018 requires that hoses be designed and tested to satisfy widely recognized rated pressures, specifying a minimum rated pressure (PR) of at least 40. This provision ensures that selected hoses can maintain integrity under the maximum allowable pressure (PS) of the equipment they are connected to, thereby enhancing operational safety in environments that handle cryogenic fluids. The relevance of EN ISO 21012:2018 to industries such as aerospace, medical, and industrial gas applications cannot be overstated. By providing uniform guidelines and ensuring the reliability of cryogenic systems, this standard plays a vital role in promoting safety and efficiency across various sectors. Overall, EN ISO 21012:2018 stands out as a vital reference document, establishing essential criteria that support the safe and efficient transfer of cryogenic fluids through flexible hoses, while addressing the critical need for safety and standardization in high-demand environments.
