Corrigendum 1 - Explosive atmospheres - Part 26: Equipment with equipment protection level (EPL) Ga

Lays down specific requirements, including technical characteristics and test conditions for area gamma radiation dose rate monitoring equipment for use in accident conditions. This may be used, for example, for detection of leaks in a system containing radioactivity and to give useful information for interpreting the accident conditions that are present, making, in some cases, an assessment of potential releases to the environment, and implementation of emergency procedures.

Etablit des prescriptions spécifiques, comprenant les caractéristiques techniques et les conditions d'essai des ensembles de surveillance locale du débit de dose de rayonnement gamma dans les situations accidentelles. Ceux-ci peuvent étre utilisés, par exemple, pour la détection d'une rupture dans les circuits contenant de la radioactivité et donner une information utile: - pour interpréter les conditions présentes de l'accident, - pour déterminer, dans certains cas, une évaluation des rejets potentiels dans l'environnement, - pour la mise en oeuvre des procédures d'urgence.

6 Marking
6.2 Examples of marking
Replace the existing text of Subclause 6.2 by the following new text:

a) Equipment which is intended to be completely installed inside the area requiring EPL Ga, for
example:
Ex ia IIC T6 Ga
or
Ex d+e IIB T4 Ga
b) Associated apparatus, which is installed outside the hazardous area and providing external
electrical circuits protected by intrinsic safety “ia” according to IEC 60079-11, which can be
connected to equipment providing EPL Ga, for example:

[Ex ia Ga] IIC
NOTE 1 No designation of the temperature class is required, as this equipment is located outside the
hazardous area.
c) Equipment which is installed in the boundary wall between an area requiring EPL Ga and the
less hazardous area, both EPLs are marked on the label separated by a slash, for example:

Ex d IIC T6 Ga/Gb
or
Ex ia/d IIC T6 Ga/Gb
NOTE 2 Intrinsic safety “ia” equipment providing EPL Ga with a flameproof “d” compartment providing EPL Gb.

or
Ex d+e / d IIB T4 Ga/Gb
NOTE 3 Two independent types of protection flameproof “d” and increased safety “e” providing EPL Ga with a
