Adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems - Accelerated ageing test of adhesives

This Technical Specification (TS) describes a method for an accelerated aging test of an adhesive in its container. The result provides the manufacturer with an indication of the storage stability of the adhesive and container combination and their ability to retain adhesive properties.
The method described is intended for solvent based adhesives for thermoplastic piping systems but may be applied to other adhesive types if appropriate.
The method described in this TS does not give a correlation between the results obtained after the accelerated aging test and after the shelf life of the adhesive at the ambient conditions defined by the manufacturer in the data sheet.

Klebstoffe für thermoplastische Rohrleitungssysteme - Prüfung von Klebstoffen bei künstlicher Alterung

Diese Technische Spezifikation (TS) beschreibt ein Verfahren für die Prüfung eines Klebstoffes in seinem
Behälter bei künstlicher Alterung. Das Ergebnis dient dem Hersteller als Hinweis auf die Lagerfähigkeit der
Klebstoff-Behälter-Kombination und deren Fähigkeit zur Erhaltung der Klebeeigenschaften.
Das beschriebene Verfahren ist für lösemittelhaltige Klebstoffe für thermoplastische Kunststoffrohr-leitungssysteme
vorgesehen, kann jedoch, sofern geeignet, auch auf andere Klebstoffarten angewendet
werden.
Das in dieser Technischen Spezifikation beschriebene Verfahren gibt keine Wechselbeziehung an zwischen
den Ergebnissen nach der Prüfung bei künstlicher Alterung und nach der vom Hersteller auf dem Datenblatt
angegebenen Haltbarkeitsdauer bei Umgebungsbedingungen.

La présente Spécification Technique (TS) décrit une méthode d’essai de vieillissement accéléré d’un adhésif
dans son emballage. Le résultat fournit au fabricant une indication sur la stabilité au stockage d’une
combinaison adhésif-emballage et sur la capacité de cette derniere a conserver ses propriétés adhésives.
La méthode décrite s’applique aux adhésifs a base de solvant pour réseaux de canalisations en matieres
thermoplastiques mais peut également s’appliquer a d’autres types d’adhésifs, le cas échéant.
La méthode décrite dans la présente Spécification Technique ne donne aucune corrélation entre les résultats
obtenus apres l’essai de vieillissement accéléré et apres la durée de stockage de l’adhésif dans les conditions
ambiantes définies dans la fiche documentaire du fabricant.

This Technical Specification (CEN/TS) was approved by CEN on 9 November 2004 for provisional application.
The period of validity of this CEN/TS is limited initially to three years. After two years the members of CEN will be requested to submit their
comments, particularly on the question whether the CEN/TS can be converted into a European Standard.
CEN members are required to announce the existence of this CEN/TS in the same way as for an EN and to make the CEN/TS available
promptly at national level in an appropriate form. It is permissible to keep conflicting national standards in force (in parallel to the CEN/TS)
until the final decision about the possible conversion of the CEN/TS into an EN is reached.
