This document specifies dimensions for the height, width and depth of kitchen units and worktops. Additionally, it defines the space for integrating appliances, such as sink units, ovens, refrigerators, in kitchens. This document does not apply to customized kitchens. This document does not apply to kitchens for commercial use (e.g. in hotels, restaurants, and hospitals).

This document specifies test methods for the determination of the durability, height loss and hardness of mattresses with a height ≥100 mm (and mattress pads when they form a unit with the mattress). This document applies to adult mattresses for domestic and non-domestic use. It does not apply to water mattresses, air mattresses or standalone mattress pads. Test methods for the assessment of aging, degradation, fire resistance and electrical functions are not included.

This document specifies a method for the assessment of the abrasion resistance of surfaces with foils, laminates, melamine faced boards, pigmented and transparent lacquers. The test is intended to be carried out on an unused part of the finished furniture, but can be carried out on test panels of the same material, finished in an identical manner to the finished product, and of a size sufficient to meet the requirements of the test.

This document specifies test methods for determining the strength, durability and stability of storage units, when fully assembled prior to use, including their movable and non-movable parts. Acceptance criteria for the strength, durability and stability of the storage furniture is not specified by the test methods. Instead, suggested loads, cycles and forces are provided in Annex B, depending on the applicability of the furniture.

This document specifies safety requirements and test methods for mattresses, including mattress bases and mattress toppers, used in children's cots, cribs and suspended baby beds, for domestic and non-domestic use. This document does not apply to mattresses for carry cots and pram bodies, inflatable mattresses, water mattresses and mattresses used for medical purposes.

This document specifies methods for the determination of the dimensions of office chairs. This document does not contain dimensional specifications or requirements.

ISO 19833:2018 specifies test methods for determining the stability, strength and durability of all types of fully assembled beds including bed frames and bed bases. ISO 19833:2018 applies to adult beds for domestic and non-domestic use. It does not apply to waterbeds, airbeds, foldaway beds, bunk beds and beds for people with special needs, nor to beds for healthcare and medical purposes. Test methods for the assessment of ageing, degradation, fire resistance and electrical functions are not included in this document. Other methods for the strength and durability of storage components, seating surfaces and other features associated with beds are covered by other standards. Where a bed incorporates additional functions such as storage, electrical adjustability or conversion from a sofa to a bed, additional tests are applicable. ISO 19833:2018 does not specify requirements for the choice of loads, cycles or forces. These can be specified in a requirements document. If this is not available, suggested loads and cycles can be found in Annex A (informative). The tests are not intended to assess the durability of upholstery, e.g. filling materials and covers.

ISO 9221-1:2015 specifies safety requirements for children's high chairs intended for children from 6 months to 36 months of age. If the product can be converted into a product for which an ISO safety standard exists, it is intended that the product also fulfil the requirements of that International Standard.

ISO 9221-2:2015 specifies test methods for the assessment of the requirements of children's high chairs.

ISO 4211-3:2013 specifies a method for the assessment of the resistance to dry heat of all rigid furniture surfaces regardless of materials. It does not apply to leather and textile surfaces.

ISO 21016:2007 specifies test methods for the determination of the stability, the strength and the durability of all types of office tables designed for use in the seated and/or standing position, e.g. work tables, height-adjustable tables, meeting tables and desks. It applies to tables that are fully assembled and ready for use. ISO 21016:2007 does not contain test methods for storage elements, which can be found in ISO 7170. The tests consist of the application, to various parts of the unit, of loads, forces and velocities simulating normal functional use, as well as misuse, that can reasonably be expected to occur. With the exception of the deflection of table tops, the tests are designed to evaluate properties without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. The test results are valid only for the unit/component tested. These results can be used to represent the performance of production models provided that the tested model is representative of the production model. Tests carried out according to ISO 21016:2007 are intended to demonstrate the ability of the item to give satisfactory service in its intended environment. It is necessary to understand that such tests do not ensure that structural failure will not eventually occur as a result of habitual misuse or after an excessively long period of service. The tests have been developed for units/components that have not been in use. However, when properly justified, they can be used for fault investigation. ISO 21016:2007 specifies test methods only. ISO 21016:2007 does not specify requirements. These should be specified in a requirements document. If this is not available, suggested forces and cycles are included in ISO 21016:2007. ISO 21016:2007 does not include an assessment of ageing or degradation.

ISO 21015:2007 specifies test methods for determining the stability, strength and durability of office work chairs. Guidance is given on the choice of forces, cycles, etc., for these tests. The tests are designed to be applied to an article of furniture that is fully assembled and ready for use. The dimensions in the tests are applicable to office work chairs intended for adult persons. The tests consist of the application, to various parts of the item, of forces simulating normal functional use, as well as misuse that can reasonably be expected to occur. The tests are designed to evaluate properties without regard to materials, design/construction or manufacturing processes. The test results are valid only for the article tested. When the test results are intended to be applied to other similar articles, it is important that the test specimen be representative of the production model. Tests carried out according to ISO 21015:2007 are intended to demonstrate the ability of the item to give satisfactory service in its intended environment. The tests have been developed for units/components that have not been in use. However, when properly justified, they can be used for fault investigation. Data are given for the design of seat loading pads and for the design of stability loading pad. ISO 21015:2007 does not give any product requirements. These can be specified in a requirements document. If this is not available, possible forces and cycles are suggested. These forces and cycles can be used for adults regardless of their weight and number of working hours. ISO 21015:2007 does not specify type approval tests for chair components. Assessment of ageing and degradation is not included. The tests are not intended to assess the durability of upholstery, i.e. filling materials and covers.

Specifies test methods to assess the safety of bunk beds for domestic use. Also applies to single beds for use at a height of the bed base of 800 mm or more above floor level, irrespective of the use to which the space below is put. The tests consist of the application, to various parts of the bunk bed, of loads or forces simulating normal functional use, as well as misuse that can reasonably be expected to occur. The test results are only valid for the article testet.

Lays down requirements relating to the safety of bunk beds for domestic use. Intended to minimize the risk of accidents happening to children. Only the sleeping function is considered. Also applies to single beds for use at a height of the bed base of 800 mm or more above floor level, irrespective of the use to which the space below is put.

Describes methods for determining the rearward stability of the chairs. Forward and sideward stability is determined by methods described in ISO 7174-1. The test results are only valid for the article tested.

Test methods are described for all types of chairs, easy chairs and stools except reclining or tilted chairs in the reclined or tilted position and chairs for specific fields of use. Assessment of ageing and degradation and tests for stuffing materials, upholstery fabrics or foam cushions are not included. The tests are designed to be applied to articles that are fully assembled and ready for use. Forces and dimensions therein are applicable to chairs and stools intended for adult persons.

Belongs to a series of standards concerned with the major subject. The three annexes do not form integral parts of ISO 8191-2. The test methods are intended for a combination of materials used such as covers and fillings in uphlostered seating, and not for a particular finished item of furniture incorporating these materials. They only give an indication of, but cannot guarantee, the ignition behaviour of the finished item of furniture.

The specified method is suitable for use either as a means of comparing different finishing systems or as a quality control test to ensure that a specified performance level is achieved or maintained. The tests are carried out on panels of the same materials and finished in the identical manner as the finished furniture of a size sufficient to meet the requirements of the test. The degree of damage to the test area is assessed by reference to a descriptive numerical rating code.

The calculative and experimental methods are not applicable to settees and other multiple seating, nor to swivelling or rocking chairs. They include chairs with tilting, reclining and adjustable back-angle mechanisms only when used as upright chairs. Part 2 of ISO 7174 deals with the stability of such chairs when fully reclined. The annex does form part of ISO 7174-1. The chart gives suggested minimum overturning forces applicable to all types of adult chairs according to their loaded seat heights.

The specified method applies to surfaces of finished furniture or test panels of the same material and finished in the identical manner as the finished furniture with a size sufficient to meet the requirements of the test. The type and number of test liquids and the test periods can be selected from the tables in clause 5 and in the annex. The test results are assessed in terms of a descriptive numerical rating code.

The test results are only valid for the unit/component tested. These results can be used to represent the performance of production models provided that the tested model is representative of the production model. This document specifies test methods only. It does not specify requirements for specific forces that the storage unit must withstand without overturning. It is intended that these be specified in a requirements document.

ISO 24496:2017 specifies methods for the determination of the dimensions of office chairs. ISO 24496:2017 does not contain dimensional specifications or requirements.

The principle of the method specified is to place a standard aluminium alloy block at a specified test temperature on a damp cloth in contact with the surface of the test panel (or on finished furniture), removing the block and damp cloth after a specified period of time, wiping the test area dry and leaving the test panel undisturbed for at least 16 h, then examining it under specified lighting conditions for signs of damage (discoloration, change in lustre, blistering or other defects). Applies to the hard surfaces of all finished furniture, regardless of material, except for finishes on leather and coated fabrics.

Specifies requirements relating to the safety of children's high chairs for domestic use, with the aim of minimizing accidents to children resulting from normal usage and reasonably foreseeable misuse.

The specified methods are applicable to free-standig storage furniture including cupboards, cabinets and bookshelves that are fully assembled and ready for use. Wall-mounted or otherwise built-in units are not covered. The test results are only valid for the article tested. When they are intended to be applied to other similar articles, the test specimen should be representative of the production model. Otherwise the test should be carried out as far as possible as described and the deviations from the test procedure reported.

Defines sizes for components of kitchen equipment in dwellings. Specifies also, in annex A, the sizes of zones for hot and cold water and waste and gas pipes in kitchen cabinets and certain appliances. Applies to all components of kitchen equipment, for example cabinets, work-tops, sink units and appliances.

The specified dimensions are confined to those which derive from anthropometric data; compliance with them ensures that the furniture permits good seating postures. The seven sizes for seating and related tables based on a reference stature are given in tables 1 and 2, and the references to the dimensions are shown in figures 1 and 2. This standard does not include special requirements applicable to "special schools" and adjustable furniture.
