This European Standard defines minimum functional and non-functional requirements for developing a Track Warning Systems (TWS) to warn persons during their work on or nearby the track about the approaching of trains or rail vehicles using acoustical and visual TWS-Signals. These systems may also be able to influence the approaching of trains and rail vehicles by stoppage function.
This European Standard is applicable:
- to systems, sub-systems and components within TWS, including those containing software; in particular;
- to new TWS;
- to new integrations of systems, sub-systems and components into existing TWS;
- to modifications of TWS developed according to this standard.
For single warning units (e.g. simple electrical horns) it is recommended to use this standard, too.
This document does not deal with:
- hazards during the installation of the TWS caused by trains or rail vehicles on the lines;
- hazards caused by the improper use of TWS;
- hazards caused by the improper behaviour of persons working on or nearby the track;
- CO2-tyfone, human operated pressure signal horns, flags, detonators or machine warning systems according to UIC 644;
- national safety regulations to plan and operate TWS in track.

Dieses Dokument legt funktionale sowie nichtfunktionale Mindestanforderungen an die Entwicklung von Warnsystemen (TWS) fest, die Personen während ihres Arbeitseinsatzes auf oder in der Nähe von Gleisen unter Verwendung akustischer und optischer TWS-Signale vor herannahenden Zügen oder Schienenfahrzeu-gen warnen. Diese Systeme dürfen zugleich in der Lage sein, das Herannahen von Zügen und Schienenfahr-zeugen durch eine Haltefunktion zu beeinflussen.
Diese Europäische Norm gilt:
- insbesondere für Systeme, Teilsysteme und Bestandteile von TWS, einschließlich solcher, die Software enthalten;
- für neue TWS;
- für die Neueinbindung von Systemen, Teilsystemen und Bestandteilen in vorhandene TWS;
- für Änderungen von TWS, die nach dieser Norm entwickelt wurden.
Es wird empfohlen, diese Norm auch für Einzelwarngeräte (z. B. einfache elektrische Signalhörner) zu verwenden.
Dieses Dokument behandelt Folgendes nicht:
- Gefährdungen durch Züge oder Schienenfahrzeuge auf den Bahnstrecken während der Montage von TWS;
- Gefährdungen, die sich aus der unsachgemäßen Verwendung von TWS ergeben;
- Gefährdungen, die sich aus dem unangemessenen Verhalten von Personen ergeben, die auf dem Gleis oder in Gleisnähe arbeiten;
- CO2-Typhone, von Menschen bediente, druckbetriebene Signalhörner, Flaggen, Sprengkörper oder Maschinenwarnsysteme nach UIC 644;
- nationale Sicherheitsbestimmungen zur Planung und zum Betrieb von TWS am Gleis.
Applications ferroviaires - Voie - Protection et sécurité durant des travaux sur la voie - Partie 2-1: Solutions communes et technologie - Exigences relatives aux dispositifs d'annonce des circulations (TWS)
Le présent document définit les exigences minimales fonctionnelles et non fonctionnelles pour le développement des dispositifs d’annonce des circulations (TWS) destinés à annoncer aux personnes travaillant sur ou à proximité de la voie de l’approche de trains ou de circulations ferroviaires, au moyen de signaux sonores et lumineux. Ces dispositifs peuvent également avoir une influence sur l’approche des trains et des circulations ferroviaires, au moyen d'une fonction d'arrêt.
La présente Norme européenne est applicable :
- aux systèmes, sous-systèmes et composants des TWS, y compris ceux comportant des logiciels ; en particulier :
- aux nouveaux TWS ;
- à l'intégration de nouveaux systèmes, sous-systèmes et composants dans les TWS existants ;
- aux modifications de TWS développés conformément à cette norme.
Concernant les dispositifs d'annonce simple (par exemple, simples avertisseurs sonores électriques), il est recommandé d'avoir recours à la présente norme également.
Le présent document ne s’applique pas aux :
- risques engendrés, par les trains ou les circulations ferroviaires sur les lignes durant l'installation des TWS
- risques engendrés par l'utilisation incorrecte des TWS ;
- risques engendrés par le comportement inadapté d'opérateurs travaillant sur les voies ou à proximité des voies ;
- cornes à air ou à gaz, avertisseurs sonores à pression à commande manuelle, drapeaux, détonateurs ou avertisseurs sonores des machines conformément à l'UIC 644 ;
- règles nationales de sécurité pour la mise en œuvre et l'utilisation des TWS sur les voies.

Ta dokument opredeljuje minimalne funkcionalne in nefunkcionalne zahteve za razvijanje opozorilnih sistemov (TWS), ki opozarjajo osebe med njihovim delom na progi ali ob njej na bližajoče se vlake ali železniška vozila z uporabo zvočnih in vidnih opozorilnih signalov. Ti sistemi lahko vplivajo tudi na približevanje vlakov in železniških vozil, in sicer tako, da jih zaustavijo. Ta evropski standard se uporablja: – za sisteme, podsisteme in komponente opozorilnega sistema, vključno s tistimi z vgrajeno programsko opremo; zlasti; – za nove opozorilne sisteme; – za nove vgradnje sistemov, podsistemov in komponent v obstoječe opozorilne sisteme; – za spremembe opozorilnega sistema, ki so izvedene v skladu s tem standardom. Za posamezne opozorilne enote (npr. preproste električne hupe) se prav tako priporoča uporaba tega standarda. Ta dokument ne obravnava: – nevarnosti, ki jih povzročijo vlaki ali železniška vozila na progi med namestitvijo opozorilnega sistema; -– nevarnosti, do katerih pride zaradi nepravilnega ravnanja oseb, ki delajo na progi ali ob njej; – alarmnih naprav Tyfon CO2, signalnih hup pod tlakom, ki jih upravlja človek, zastav, detonatorjev ali strojnih opozorilnih sistemov v skladu z objavo UIC 644; – nacionalnih varnostnih predpisov v zvezi z načrtovanjem in delovanjem opozorilnega sistema na progi.
