This European standard specifies the requirement and test methods for rubber and plastics suction hoses for fire-fighting purposes. Note 1: Hoses for use at lower temperatures that -10 °C (eg. -20 °C) can be supplied at the request of the purchser. Note 2: All pressures are expressed in megapascals. 1 MPa = 10 bar.

Feuerlöschschläuche - Saugschläuche aus Gummi und Kunststoff (ISO 14557:2002)

Diese Europäische Norm legt Anforderungen an und Prüfverfahren für Saugschläuche aus Gummi und Kunststoff für Feuer-löschzwecke fest.
ANMERKUNG 1   Sämtliche Drücke werden in Megapascal angegeben. 1 MPa = 10 bar.
Zusätzliche Anforderungen werden für eingebundene Schläuche, d. h. Schläuche mit bereits montierten Kupp-lungen, für den Fall festgelegt, dass der Einband durch den Schlauchhersteller erfolgte (siehe Abschnitt 8).
Schläuche des Typs A (Gummi) sind für den Einsatz bis zu einer niedrigsten Temperatur von - 20 °C und Schläuche des Typs B (Thermoplaste) für den Einsatz bis zu einer niedrigsten Temperatur von - 10 °C vorgesehen.
ANMERKUNG 2   Schläuche für die Verwendung unterhalb der oben festgelegten Temperaturen dürfen auf der Grundlage einer Vereinbarung zwischen Hersteller und Anwender geliefert werden. In diesem Fall sollte die Prüfung der Flexibilität bei Kälte (siehe 6.3) bei der vereinbarten Temperatur durchgeführt werden.

Tuyaux de lutte contre l'incendie - Tuyaux d'aspiration et flexibles en caoutchouc et en plastique (ISO 14557:2002)

L'ISO 14557:2002 présente les exigences et méthodes d'essai applicables aux tuyaux d'aspiration en caoutchouc et en plastique destinés à la lutte contre l'incendie.
Des exigences supplémentaires sont spécifiées pour les flexibles, c'est-à-dire des tuyaux avec des raccords déjà montés, lorsque le montage est effectué par le fabricant de tuyaux.
Les tuyaux de type A (en caoutchouc) sont conçus pour une utilisation à une température minimale de - 20 °C tandis que les tuyaux de type B (thermoplastiques) sont conçus pour une utilisation à une température minimale de - 10 °C.

This document establishes the requirements and test methods for rubber and plastics suction hoses for fire-fighting purposes. These hoses can also be used manually to supply unpressurized water to the pump or for water discharge.
NOTE       All pressures are expressed in megapascals and in bar (1 MPa = 10 bar).
Additional requirements are specified for hose assemblies, that is, hoses with couplings already fitted, where this is carried out by the hose manufacturer (see Clause 8).
Type A (rubber) hoses are intended for use at a minimum temperature of −20 °C and Type B (thermoplastics) hoses are intended for use at a minimum temperature of −10 °C.

It is advised to read this document in conjunction with parts 2, 3 or 4.
This document does not apply to branchpipes covered by EN 671 series, foam branchpipes covered by EN 16712-3, powder branchpipes, or branchpipes with a maximum working pressure above 40 bar.
NOTE 1   The Working Group has thoroughly addressed and discussed the issue of electrical safety in relation to using water branchpipes. However, an electrical test is not incorporated into this document as international experience, as well as research (NFPA handbook, French research, etc) have shown that any "artificial" or "laboratory style" testing will not take into account poor visibility and other conditions present on any fire ground, nor the problem of estimating distances under these conditions. When fighting fires in or near electrical installations, the power is cut off as soon as possible (see the operating instructions, 8.1). Also, it is best practice to maintain a maximum possible safety distance (at least 1 m up to 1 000 V) and to use a spray jet with a minimum spray angle of 30 °.
NOTE 2   It is essential to take into account reaction forces before choosing and operating branchpipes.

WARNING 2 — These branchpipes should not be used when fighting fires in or near electrical installations when the spray angle is less than 30° without written authorization from the manufacturer in the manual. This authorization from the manufacturer includes safety distances.

This European Standard specifies safety and performance requirements for double acting hydraulic rescue tools manufactured after the date of publication.
It is applicable to double acting hydraulic rescue tool systems which are intended for use by the firefighting and rescue services, principally for cutting through, spreading or pushing apart the structural parts of road vehicles, ships, trains, aircraft and building structures involved in accidents. They consist of a separate power pack, the tool[s] and the necessary interconnections and intended accessories, as defined in Clause 3 – Terms and definitions.
This document deals with all significant hazards, hazardous situations or hazardous events relevant to the machinery, when it is used as intended and under conditions of misuse which are reasonably foreseeable by the manufacturer.
NOTE 1   The aim is to assist while extracting the casualties or to create a working space for paramedical services taking the local conditions into account.
It is not applicable to additional requirements for:
a)   operation in severe conditions (e.g. extreme environmental conditions such as: temperatures outside the range –20 °C up to +55 °C, corrosive environment, tropical environment, contaminating environments, strong magnetic fields, potentially explosive atmospheres);
b)   the risk directly arising from the means provided for the portability, transportability and mobility of double-acting hydraulic rescue tools during periods of their operation.
NOTE 2   For the EU/EEA other Directives can be applicable to the equipment in the scope, for example the Electro Magnetic Compatibility Directive.
