EN 13308:2002 (CEN) specifies requirements for the non pressure balanced footvalve used in tanks for transport of dangerous goods. The standard covers performance, critical dimensions and required tests for footvalves used for bottom loading and unloading of flammable liquids (ADR Class 3) with vapour pressure ≤ 110 kPa at 50 °C and petrol, excluding toxic or corrosive sub‑classes. It defines design, mounting, actuation, break‑away security, materials and test regimes to verify compliance.

  • Electrical resistance requirements: conductive parts to valve body ≤ 10^6 Ω; bonding from valve to tank ≤ 10^5 Ω.
• Strainer: Valve must accept a strainer to prevent foreign objects impairing closure.
• Temperature range: Default −20 °C to +50 °C (extendable to −40 °C or +70 °C where needed).
