This standard specifies mandatory requirements for tests, test procedures and acceptance criteria for production testing of industrial valves.
The specified tests may also be used as type tests or acceptance tests.
When specified as a normative reference in a valve product or performance standard, this standard has to be considered in conjunction with the specific requirements of that valve product or performance standard. Where requirements in a product or performance standard differ from those given in this standard, the requirements of the product or performance standard apply.

Diese Norm legt Anforderungen an Prüfungen, Prüfverfahren und Annahmekriterienfest, die jede Armatur erfüllen muß. Die festgelegten Prüfungen können als Typ-, fertigungsbegleitende oder Anerkennungsprüfungen durchgeführt werden. Die Anwendung dieser Prüfungen kann in den entsprechenden Bauart- oder Gebrauchstauglichkeitsnormen festgelegt werden. Wenn sich die Anforderungen in einer Bauart- oder Gebrauchstauglichkeitsnorm von den in dieser Norm festgelegten Anforderungen unterschieden, dann gelten die Anforderungen der Anforderungen der Bauart- oder Gebrauchstauglichkeitsnorm.

Cette norme spécifie les prescriptions concernant les essais, les procédures d'essai et les critères d'acceptation à remplir par chaque appareil de robinetterie. Les essais prescrits peuvent être utilisés en tant qu'essais de type, essais en production ou essais d'acceptation. L'application de ces essais peut être spécifiée dans les normes appropriées de produit ou de performance. Lorsque des prescriptions d'une norme de produit ou de performance diffèrent de celles données dans la présente norme, alors les prescriptions de la norme de produit ou de performance s'appliquent.
