This European Standard specifies requirements on and characteristics of bottom emptying devices on tank wagons used for the carriage of liquid substances of RID. This European Standard specifies the most important dimensions of connection devices for the emptying of the tank. Safety functions of these devices are subject to RID requirements and not described in this document.
This European Standard is applicable to bottom vapour return devices where fitted to tank wagons.
This standard applies to new tank wagons build after the 1st January 2010.

La présente Norme Européenne précise les exigences et les caractéristiques relatives aux dispositifs de vidange par le bas équipant les wagons citernes utilisés pour le transport de matières liquides du RID. Les fonctions de sécurité de ces dispositifs sont soumises aux exigences du RID et ne sont pas décrites dans le présent document. La présente Norme Européenne définit les dimensions essentielles des dispositifs de raccordement utilisés pour la vidange d'une citerne.
La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux wagons citernes équipés de dispositifs de récupération de vapeur en partie basse.
La présente norme s’applique aux nouveaux wagons citernes fabriqués après le 1er janvier 2010.

EN 12561-2:2011 (E) 3 Foreword This document (EN 12561-2:2011) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 256 “Railway applications”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN. This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by December 2011, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at the latest by December 2011. Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent rights. The changes made during this revision are editorial because of the change of the title of part 1 and the necessary updates of references.
