Transport - Logistics and Services - Goods transport chains - Code of practice for the provision of cargo transport services

This European Standard specifies in the form of a "Code of Practice" the management controls and key performance indicators necessary for the effective and efficient management of customer's cargo throughout the transport process.
It is intended for use by the providers of the service and as general guidance by purchasers of such services (customers) and it defines the principles, best practices and obligations of the provider as well for the client as providing advice with regard to contribution by the customer that will facilitate the most effective outcome.
In addition, this Code of Practice strongly recommends that the service provider carry out regular self assessment of performance against defined criteria with the objective of continually improving the quality of services provided and is prepared in a manner which facilitates independent audit of the service provider's performance in order to give confidence to customers that the integrity of performance measurement is maintained.
Annex A contains a recommended procedure for "Self Assessment".

Diese Europäische Norm legt in Form eines Merkblattes die Mittel des Managements zur Prozessüberwachung und die wichtigsten Leistungskennwerte fest, die für das effektive und effiziente Management von Kundenfrachtgütern innerhalb der gesamten Transportkette notwendig sind.
Diese Norm ist für die Anwendung durch Dienstleistungsanbieter und als allgemeiner Leitfaden für Personen, die diese Dienstleistungen gegen Bezahlung in Anspruch nehmen (Kunden), bestimmt; sie definiert die Grundprinzipien, die am besten geeigneten praktischen Anwendungen und die Verpflichtungen sowohl des Dienstleistungsanbieters als auch des Kunden, da sie Angaben bezüglich des vom Kunden zu leistenden Beitrags enthält, die es erleichtern, das bestmögliche Ergebnis zu erzielen.
Zusätzlich empfiehlt dieses Merkblatt dem Dienstleistungsanbieter nachdrücklich, um die Qualität der Dienstleistun-gen beständig zu verbessern, regelmäßig Selbsteinschätzungen der Leistung im Vergleich mit definierten Kriterien durchzuführen; es ist in einer Weise abgefasst, die es erleichtert, unabhängige Prüfungen der Leistungen des Dienst-leistungsanbieters durchzuführen, so dass die Kunden Vertrauen dahingehend haben können, dass die Unver-fälschtheit der Messung der Leistungskennwerte aufrechterhalten wird.
In Anhang A ist ein empfohlenes Verfahren für die "Selbsteinschätzung" angegeben.

La présente Norme européenne spécifie, sous la forme d'un ''Code de bonne pratique'', les instruments de contrôle de gestion et les indicateurs de performance nécessaires a une gestion efficace et rentable des marchandises du client tout au long du processus de transport.
La présente norme est destinée a etre utilisée par les prestataires de service et a servir de guide général aux acheteurs de ces services (clients), de meme qu'elle définit les principes, les meilleures pratiques et les obligations du prestataire et formule des recommandations quant a la contribution du client qui facilite l'obtention du meilleur résultat.
De plus, ce code de bonne pratique, qui recommande vivement que le prestataire de service procede a une auto évaluation de performance réguliere par rapport aux criteres définis, a pour objectif l'amélioration continue de la qualité des services fournis et est élaboré d'une maniere qui facilite un audit indépendant de la performance du prestataire de service dans le but de convaincre les clients que l'intégrité de la mesure de performance est maintenue.
L'annexe A recommande un mode opératoire "d'auto-évaluation".

This is particularly important with regard to the provision of insurance cover which should be considered to be theresponsibility of the customer unless special arrangements have been made for the service provider to ensure them whilst intransit.
