Textiles - Care labelling code using symbols (ISO 3758:2023)
This document establishes a system of graphic symbols, intended for use in the marking of textile articles, and for providing information on the most severe treatments that do not cause irreversible damage to the article during the textile care process, and specifies the use of these symbols in care labelling.
This document is applicable to all textile articles, except:
— non-removable covers of upholstered furniture;
— non-removable covers of mattresses;
— carpets and rugs which require professional carpet cleaning.
These products are excluded due to specific cleaning processes not specified in this document.
The graphical symbols described in this document are intended to give care information to the end user.
The following domestic treatments are covered: washing, bleaching, drying and ironing. Professional textile care treatments in dry and wet cleaning, but excluding industrial laundering and professional carpet cleaning, are also covered. However, it is recognized that information imparted by the domestic symbols will also be of assistance to the professional cleaner and launderer.
NOTE Symbols for industrial laundering can be found in ISO 30023.

Dieses Dokument stellt ein System von grafischen Symbolen auf, die für die Kennzeichnung von textilen Artikeln und für die Bereitstellung von Informationen über die Maximalbehandlungen vorgesehen sind, ohne irreversible Schäden bei dem ausgezeichneten Artikel durch die Textilpflege hervorzurufen und legt die Anwendung dieser Symbole bei der Pflegekennzeichnung fest.
Dieses Dokument ist anwendbar für alle textilen Artikel, davon ausgenommen:
nicht abnehmbare Bezüge von Polstermöbeln;
nicht abnehmbare Bezüge von Matratzen;
Teppiche und Vorleger, die eine professionelle Teppichreinigung erfordern.
Diese Produkte sind aufgrund spezifischer Reinigungsprozesse, die in diesem Dokument nicht festgelegt sind, ausgeschlossen.
Die in diesem Dokument beschriebenen grafischen Symbole sind dafür vorgesehen, dem Endanwender Informationen zur Pflege zur Verfügung zu stellen.
Die nachfolgenden Behandlungen im Haushalt sind enthalten: Waschen, Bleichen, Trocknen und Bügeln. Professionelle Textilpflege bei der Chemisch- und Nassreinigung, außer industrielle Wäsche und professionelle Teppichreinigung, ist ebenfalls enthalten. Es ist jedoch allgemein bekannt, dass die durch die im Haushalt gebräuchlichen Symbole vermittelten Informationen auch für die professionelle Textilpflege hilfreich sind.
ANMERKUNG Symbole für industrielle Wäsche können in ISO 30023 gefunden werden.

Le présent document établit un système de symboles graphiques destinés au marquage des articles textiles, en donnant des informations sur le traitement le plus sévère possible sans détérioration irréversible de l’article pendant l’entretien du textile, et précise l’utilisation de ces symboles dans l’étiquetage d’entretien.
Le présent document s’applique à tous les articles textiles, à l’exception:
— des housses non amovibles des meubles rembourrés;
— des housses non amovibles des matelas;
— des revêtements de sol textiles et tapis qui requièrent un nettoyage professionnel.
Ces produits sont exclus en raison de traitements de nettoyage spécifiques non spécifiés dans le présent document.
Les symboles graphiques décrits dans le présent document sont destinés à fournir des informations d’entretien à l’utilisateur final.
Les traitements ménagers suivants sont pris en considération: lavage, blanchiment, séchage et repassage. Les traitements d’entretien des textiles par des professionnels, par nettoyage à sec ou nettoyage à l’eau sont également couverts, à l’exclusion du blanchissage industriel et du nettoyage professionnel des revêtements de sol textiles. Toutefois, il est admis que les informations fournies par les symboles domestiques seront également utiles aux professionnels de la teinturerie et de la blanchisserie.
NOTE Les symboles pour le blanchissage industriel sont fournis par l’ISO 30023.

Ta dokument določa sistem grafičnih simbolov za označevanje tekstilnih izdelkov in podajanje informacij o najstrožjem postopku obdelave, ki ne povzroča nepovratne škode na izdelku med nego tkanine, ter določa uporabo teh simbolov za označevanje nege.
Ta dokument se uporablja za vse tekstilne izdelke, razen za:
– neodstranljive prevleke oblazinjenega pohištva;
– neodstranljive prevleke vzmetnic;
– obloge in preproge, ki zahtevajo profesionalno čiščenje oblog.
Omenjeni izdelki so izključeni zaradi posebnih postopkov čiščenja, ki niso navedeni v tem dokumentu.
Grafični simboli, opisani v tem dokumentu, so namenjeni podajanju informacij o negi končnemu uporabniku.
Ta standard zajema naslednje vrste gospodinjskih postopkov nege: pranje, beljenje, sušenje po pranju in likanje. Obravnava tudi postopke profesionalne nege tekstilnih izdelkov, kot sta kemično in mokro čiščenje, medtem ko industrijsko pranje in profesionalno čiščenje oblog nista vključena. Ugotovljeno je namreč bilo, da so simboli v pomoč tudi profesionalnim čistilcem in pralcem.

This document (EN ISO 3758:2023) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38 "Textiles" in
collaboration with Technical Committee CEN/TC 248 “Textiles and textile products” the secretariat of

This document was prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 38, Textiles, Subcommittee SC 2, Cleansing,
finishing and water resistance tests, in collaboration with the European Committee for Standardization
(CEN) Technical Committee CEN/TC 248, Textiles and textile products, in accordance with the Agreement
on technical cooperation between ISO and CEN (Vienna Agreement).
This fourth edition cancels and replaces the third edition (ISO 3758:2012), which has been technically
revised.
The main changes are as follows:
— some exemptions have been introduced into the Scope (see Clause 1);
— a new symbol has been introduced for wash by hand at ambient temperature in Table 1;
— a new symbol has been introduced for ironing without steam in Table 5;
— new solvents have been introduced in Table 6;
— graphical changes have been introduced in symbols of wash by hand, do not wash (in Table 1), do not
bleach (in Table 2) and do not iron (in Table 5), in order to align them to the GINETEX ones;
— three alternative examples of use of symbols have been introduced in 5.3;
— a new Annex D, “Adaptation of registered graphical symbols for use in practice”, has been added.
