Inland navigation vessels - Work boats, ship's boats and lifeboats
This European Standard applies to:
- ship's boats that must be carried on inland navigation vessels according to Annex II of Directive 2006/87/EC [3];
- lifeboats if no special life-saving equipment (e.g. ADN) is specified for the area of use [4];
- work boats for the transport of a limited number of persons or relatively small working loads in the construction site area and over comparatively short distances.
This standard does not apply to:
- recreational craft according to Directive 2013/53/EU [5];
- firefighting and water rescue boats.

Diese Europäische Norm gilt für:
- Beiboote, die nach Anhang II der Richtlinie 2006/87/EG [1] auf Fahrzeugen der Binnenschifffahrt mitgeführt werden müssen;
- Rettungsboote, sofern für das Einsatzgebiet keine besonderen Rettungsmittel vorgeschrieben sind (z. B. ADN) [2];
- Arbeitsboote für den Transport von Personen in begrenzter Anzahl oder kleineren Nutzlasten geringen Umfangs im Baustellenbereich und auf vergleichbar kurzen Entfernungen.
Diese Norm gilt nicht für:
- Sportboote nach Richtlinie 2013/53/EU [3];
- Boote der Feuerwehr und der Wasserrettung.

La présente Norme européenne s’applique aux :
- canots de service, qui selon l’Annexe II de la Directive 2006/87/CE [3], doivent équiper les bateaux de navigation intérieure ;
- canots de sauvetage, dans la mesure où aucun moyen de sauvetage particulier (par exemple, accord ADN) [4] n’est prescrit dans la zone concernée ;
- bateaux-ateliers destinés au transport d’un petit nombre de personnes ou de petites charges utiles d’un volume réduit dans une zone de chantiers et sur des distances relativement courtes.
La présente norme ne s’applique pas aux :
- bateaux de plaisance selon la Directive 2013/53/UE [5] ;
- bateaux-pompes et bateaux de sauvetage.
Plovila za celinske vode - Delovni, pomožni in reševalni čolni
Ta evropski standard se uporablja za:
– pomožne čolne, s katerimi morajo biti opremljena plovila za celinske vode v skladu z dodatkom II Direktive 2006/87/ES [3];
– reševalne čolne, če za področje uporabe ni navedena nobena posebna reševalna oprema (npr. ADN) [4];
– delovne čolne za prevoz omejenega števila oseb ali relativno majhnih delovnih bremen na gradbišču na relativno kratkih razdaljah.
Ta standard se ne uporablja za:
– plovila za rekreacijo v skladu z Direktivo 2013/53/EU [5];
– gasilske čolne in čolne za reševanje iz vode.

This document (EN 1914:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 15 “Inland navigation
vessels”, the secretariat of which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by April 2017, and any conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn
at the latest by April 2017.
It should be noted that some elements of this document may be subject to patent rights. CEN [and/or
CENELEC] shall not be responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN 1914:2009.
This standard was written up for ship's boats, for inland navigation vessels and maritime construction
company work boats.
This standard specifies requirements for ship's boats covered in § 10.05 of the Rhine Vessel Inspection Order
and in Article 10.05 of Annex II of Directive 2006/87/EC.
The following amendments have been made to EN 1914:2009:
a) firefighting and water rescue boats were removed from the scope;
b) specifications were added for handgrips/lifelines as a function of the freeboard height;
c) test provisions regarding motors were revised;
d) stability testing was changed.
According to the CEN-CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organisations of the following

1 Scope
This European Standard applies to:
