ISO 18422:2014 specifies a plate with instructions for rescue, resuscitation and first aid of drowning persons. This plate is intended for use
-      on inland navigation vessels;
-      at suitable places on the shore of inland waterways, e.g. harbours, berths, locks, sluices, etc.;
-      at other suitable places.

ISO 18422:2014 spécifie les caractéristiques d'une pancarte avec instructions relatives au sauvetage, à la réanimation et aux premiers soins des noyés. Cette pancarte est destinée à être placée:
-      sur les bateaux de navigation intérieure;
-      aux endroits appropriés au bord des voies navigables, par exemple, dans les ports, sur les quais, près des écluses, des vannes, etc.;
-      en tout autre lieu approprié.

EN ISO 18422:2017 (adoption of ISO 18422:2014) defines a standardised plate with instructions for rescue, resuscitation and first aid for drowning persons. It is intended for use on inland navigation vessels and at suitable locations on the shores of inland waterways (harbours, berths, locks, sluices) and other public places. The plate provides clear, weatherproof visual and short-text guidance to support lifesaving actions and to reduce risk to rescuers.

The text of ISO 18422:2014 has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 8 “Ships and marine
technology” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has been taken over as EN
ISO 18422:2017 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 15 “Inland navigation vessels” the secretariat of
which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an
identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by March 2018, and conflicting national standards shall
be withdrawn at the latest by March 2018.
