Safety of machinery - Ergonomic design principles - Part 1: Terminology and general principles
This European Standard establishes the ergonomic principles to be followed during the process of design of work equipment, especially machinery. Although the principles in this European Standard are orientated towards equipment for occupational use, they are applicable also to equipment for private use. This European Standard applies to the interactions between the operator and the work equipment when installing, operating, adjusting, maintaining, cleaning, repairing or transporting equipment and outlines the principles to be followed in taking the health and safety of the operator into account. The ergonomic principles given in this European Standard fully apply to all ranges of individual ability. Information on dimensions will need to be interpreted to suit the intended population.

In dieser Europäischen Norm sind ergonomische Grundsätze dargelegt, die während des Gestaltungsprozesses von Arbeitsmitteln, insbesondere von Maschinen, zu beachten sind. Die Grundsätze in vorliegender Europäischen Norm orientieren sich zwar an Arbeitsmitteln, die im Arbeitsbereich Anwendung finden,gelten aber auch für die im Privatbereich benutzten Arbeitsmittel. Diese Europäische Norm gilt für das Zusammenwirken zwischen Operatoren und Arbeitsmitteln bei Einbau, Betrieb, Einrichten, Wartung, Reinigung, Reparatur oder Transport von Arbeitsmitteln.

La présente norme européenne donne les principes ergonomiques à suivre pendant le processus de conception d'équipments de travail et plus particulièrement des machines. Bien que les principes décrits dans la présente norme europénne soientorientés vers les équipements de travail à usage professionnel, ils sont également applicables aux équipements destinés à un usage privé. La présente norme européenne s'applique à l'interaction entre l'opérateur et l'équipement detravail lors de l'installation, de l'utilisation, du réglage, de la maintenance,du nettoyage, de la réparation ou du transport dudit équipement.
