Corrosion protection of metal and alloys - Surface treatment, metallic, and other inorganic coatings - Vocabulary
This European Standard defines a number of generic terms relating to various processed of surface treatment. The list is not complete and only comprises those terms considered necessary to clarify the scope of such processes. This European Standard also establishes the glossary for electroplating and related processes. It includes terms widely used in the science and industry of electrodeposition and metal finishing. It does not include the glossary for specific coatings (e.g. vitreous enamel-porcelain enamel) for which separate documents exists or are in preparation.

Diese Europäische Norm definiert eine Reihe von Oberbegriffen, die sich auf verschiedene Verfahren der Oberflächenbehandlung beziehen. Das Verzeichnis ist nicht volltändig und setzt sich nur aus solchen Benennungen zusammen, die als erforderlich betrachtet werden um den Anwendungsbereich solcher Verfahren zu erläutern. Diese Europäische Norm enthält außerdem ein Glossar für Galvanotechnik und verwandte Verfahren. Es enthält Benennungen, die in der Galvanotechnik und auf dem Gebiet der Metalloberflächenveredlung weit verbrei- tet sind.

La présente norme européenne définit un certain nombre de termes génériques concernant différents procédés de traitement de surface. La liste n'est pas complète et ne comprend que les termes jugés nécessaires pour préciser le domaine d'emploi de ces procédés. Elle établit également le vocabulaire des dépôts électrolytiques et des opérations s'y rattachant. Elle comporte les termes fréquemment utilisés dans la science et l'industrie de l'électrodéposition et de la finition des métaux.
