This document specifies the requirements for fusion welding of unalloyed and low-alloy cast iron castings produced in accordance with:
-   EN 1561, Founding - Grey cast irons;
-   EN 1562, Founding - Malleable cast irons;
-   EN 1563, Founding - Spheroidal graphite cast irons.
This document does not apply to the joint welding of cast iron castings to other materials.

Dieses Dokument legt die Anforderungen an das Schmelzschweißen von Gussstücken aus unlegiertem und niedriglegiertem Gusseisen fest, die nach folgenden Normen hergestellt werden:
-   EN 1561, Gießereiwesen - Gusseisen mit Lamellengraphit;
-   EN 1562, Gießereiwesen - Temperguss;
-   EN 1563, Gießereiwesen - Gusseisen mit Kugelgraphit.
Dieses Dokument gilt nicht für das Verbindungsschweißen von Gusseisen mit anderen Werkstoffen.

Overview

EN 1011-8:2018 - “Welding - Recommendations for welding of metallic materials - Part 8: Welding of cast irons” (CEN) provides guidance and requirements for the fusion welding of unalloyed and low-alloy cast iron castings produced in accordance with EN 1561 (grey), EN 1562 (malleable) and EN 1563 (spheroidal graphite). It supersedes EN 1011-8:2004 and is part of the EN 1011 series that gives practical recommendations for welding metallic materials across different material groups.

This standard applies to production, finishing and repair welding of cast iron castings but does not apply to joint welding of cast iron castings to other materials.
