ISO 4063:2009 establishes a nomenclature for welding and allied processes, with each process identified by a reference number.
ISO 4063:2009 covers the main groups of processes (one digit), groups (two digits) and sub-groups (three digits). The reference number for any process has a maximum of three digits. This system is intended as an aid in computerization, drawings, the drafting of working papers, welding procedure specifications, etc.

L'ISO 4063:2009 établit une nomenclature, avec des numéros de référence, pour les procédés de soudage et les techniques connexes; chaque procédé est identifié par un numéro de référence.
L'ISO 4063:2009 couvre les groupes principaux de procédés (un chiffre), les groupes (deux chiffres) et les sous-groupes (trois chiffres). Le numéro de référence pour un procédé donné comporte au maximum trois chiffres. Ce système est prévu pour faciliter l'informatisation, les dessins et les documents de travail, les descriptifs de modes opératoires de soudage, etc.

Ta mednarodni standard vzpostavlja seznam načinov varjenja in sorodnih postopkov ter številčne oznake za vsak postopek. Ta mednarodni standard zajema glavne skupine postopkov (enoštevilčna oznaka), skupine (dvoštevilčna oznaka) in podskupine (trištevilčna oznaka). Številčna oznaka za vsak postopek ima največ tri številke. Ta sistem se uporablja kot pomoč pri informatizaciji, risanju, pripravi osnutkov delovnih dokumentov, specifikacijah varilnih postopkov itd.

Foreword
The text of ISO 4063:2009, Corrected version 2010-03-01 has been prepared by Technical Committee
ISO/TC 44 “Welding and allied processes” of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and has
been taken over as EN ISO 4063:2010 by Technical Committee CEN/TC 121 “Welding” the secretariat of
which is held by DIN.
This European Standard shall be given the status of a national standard, either by publication of an identical
text or by endorsement, at the latest by June 2011, and conflicting national standards shall be withdrawn at
the latest by June 2011.
Attention is drawn to the possibility that some of the elements of this document may be the subject of patent
rights. CEN [and/or CENELEC] shall not be held responsible for identifying any or all such patent rights.
This document supersedes EN ISO 4063:2009.
According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the following
