This document specifies requirements and provides recommendations for the interpretation of observations to reach opinions that answer questions that are relevant for decision making in investigations or legal proceedings. This document states requirements that are applicable to all forensic disciplines. This document states requirements that apply when the opinion is based directly on human judgement and when the opinion is based on interpretation through a statistical model. This document is applicable to interpretation that occurs at a scene, within a facility, or within a judicial setting. This document establishes requirements designed to safeguard the process for the interpretation of observations including the use of either statistical models or human judgement, to address alternative propositions based on the questions asked by the customer. Interpretation is not necessary and the requirements of this document do not apply if the observations resulting from the analysis directly answer the relevant question. EXAMPLE In analytical chemistry, substances are often identified or classified. Provided that the applied analytical methods are not limited in selectivity or sensitivity for the given question, the observations can lead to a direct statement of the name of the substance (identification) or a type of material (classification). This is not considered interpretation for the purposes of this document.

This document specifies requirements for high chromium white cast iron grit, as supplied for blast-cleaning processes. It specifies ranges of particle sizes, together with corresponding grade designations. Values are specified for hardness, density, defect/structural requirements, metallographic structure and chemical composition. The requirements specified in this document apply to abrasives supplied in the new condition only. They do not apply to abrasives either during or after use. High chromium white cast iron grits are used in both static and site blasting equipment. They are most often selected where there is a possibility for the recovery and re-use of the abrasive. NOTE 1 Although this document has been developed for preparation of steelwork, these materials are predominantly used for non-ferrous substrates. The properties specified will generally be appropriate for use when preparing other material surfaces, or components, using blast-cleaning techniques, and can be used for applications where no subsequent coating is applied. NOTE 2 Whenever dissimilar metals are used together, galvanic corrosion can occur.

This document specifies performance tolerances and the technical data presentation for fans of all types. It does not apply for fans designed solely for low-volume air circulation, such as those used for household or similar purposes (ceiling and table fans, extractor fans, etc.). For jet fans, refer to ISO 13350. The upper limit of fan work per unit mass is normally 25 kJ/kg, corresponding to an increase of fan pressure of approximately 30 kPa for a mean density in the fan of 1,2 kg/m3. For higher values, agreement is to be reached between the supplier and the user. This document applies the five installation categories defined in ISO 5801: A free inlet, free outlet; B free inlet, ducted outlet; C ducted inlet, free outlet; D ducted inlet, ducted outlet; E free inlet and free outlet without a partition. The performance of a fan can vary considerably with the installation category it is operating within. Therefore, these categories form an important part of the definition of the fan’s technical data presentation. NOTE International acceptance of the five installation categories provides the opportunity to base a contract on the most appropriate fan category for the end user and the system designer. Correspondingly, the likelihood of the fan providing the agreed performance, without compromise or concession, is enhanced. The efficiency scaling procedures described in 8.1.5 apply to centrifugal fans and axial fans within the specific speed ranges shown in Table 4. To date, there is no experimental data to confirm how they apply to mixed flow fans, having specific speeds in between. Category E fans are treated in Clause 7.

This document specifies a transport protocol and network layer services tailored to meet the requirements of LIN‑based vehicle network systems on local interconnect networks. The protocol specifies an unconfirmed communication. The LIN protocol supports the standardized service primitive interface as specified in ISO 14229-2. This document provides the transport protocol and network layer services to support different application layer implementations such as: — normal communication messages, and — diagnostic communication messages. The transport layer defines transportation of data that is contained in one or more frames. The transport layer messages are transported by diagnostic frames. A standardized API is specified for the transport layer. Use of the transport layer is targeting systems where diagnostics are performed on the backbone bus (e.g. CAN) and where the system builder wants to use the same diagnostic capabilities on the LIN sub-bus clusters. The messages are in fact identical to ones in ISO 15765-2 and the PDUs carrying the messages are very similar. The goals of the transport layer are: — to have low load on commander node, — to provide full (or a subset thereof) diagnostics directly on the responder nodes, and — to target clusters built with powerful LIN nodes (not the mainstream low cost).

This document, used in conjunction with ISO 834-1, specifies a method for determining the fire resistance of door and shutter assemblies designed primarily for installation within openings incorporated in vertical separating elements, such as: — hinged and pivoted doors, — horizontally sliding and vertically sliding doors, including articulated sliding doors and sectional doors, — steel single-skin folding shutters (un-insulated), — other sliding, folding doors, — tilting doors, — rolling shutter doors, — removable panels in walls, — self-closing openable windows. Requirements are included for mechanical pre-conditioning, e.g. “cycling” of door and shutter assemblies prior to the conduct of the fire-resistance test. This document does not cover: — Lift landing doors which are tested in accordance with ISO 3008-2.

This document provides principles, requirements and guidance for performing an environmental techno-economic assessment (eTEA). eTEAs provide economic analyses combined with an assessment of environmental impacts. This document specifies requirements for documenting the results, underlying assumptions, parameters and methodologies used in an eTEA. This document is applicable to process systems of any size or production scale.

This document gives guidance on how to apply ISO 50002-1 to carry out energy audits of a building or group of buildings (new or existing). It is intended to be used in conjunction with, and is supplementary to, ISO 50002-1. This document does not apply to other areas such as process audits (see ISO 50002-3), specific energy systems (e.g. compressed air) or transport. This document is applicable to buildings and can be used independently or in conjunction with ISO 50002-3.

This document specifies a chemical method for technicians working with total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TXRF) instrumentation to perform measurements of water samples, according to good practices, with a defined degree of accuracy and precision. Target users are identified among laboratories performing routine analysis of large numbers of samples, which also conform with ISO/IEC 17025. This document specifies a method to determine the content of elements dissolved in water (e.g. drinking water, surface water and ground water). This document is also applicable for determining elements in waste waters and eluates, taking into account the specific and additionally occurring interferences. This document does not specify sampling, dilution and pre-concentration methods. Elements determined using the method specified in this document can depend on the X-ray source of the instrument. This document does not specify health, safety or commercial aspects. The determinable concentrations depend on the matrix and the interferences encountered. In drinking water and relatively unpolluted waters, the limit of quantification lies between 0,001 mg/l and 0,01 mg/l for most of the elements. The range of concentrations typically lies between 0,001 mg/l and 10 mg/l, depending on the element and predefined requirements. Annex A reports an example of uncertainty calculation. Annex B provides an example report on validation of the method for TXRF analysis of water performed with instrumentation that has Mo as the X-ray source and uses Ga as the internal calibration standard. Limits of quantification of most elements are affected by blank contamination and depend predominantly on the laboratory air-handling facilities available, on the purity of reagents and the cleanliness of labware.
